November is Adoption Awareness Month. This provides a wonderful opportunity to share our knowledge and passion for adoption with our community. This month we're highlighting a Dillon family who goes above and beyond to bring awareness to adoption in their community.
A Special Gift
As the holidays rapidly approach families are whipping out those wish lists and hiding packages in closets, under beds or in the attic until the time for gift-giving arrives.

On everyone's list, Honor Cardhowever, is that one person who has everything. What better way to honor that special person than by helping a child who--without your help--may not receive a meal or be able to afford school this year?

Dillon International supports at-risk children in 10 countries with the help of our donors. With every donation made in honor or memory of someone, our donors have the opportunity to request an honor card be mailed to the donation honoree.

Emily Williams and her husband, Nathan, live in Ft. Smith, Ark. with their son, Owen. Emily is an Area Representative for Ft. Smith and promotes both Dillon's adoption programs and humanitarian aid.
 
 
"We did a lot of research when choosing an adoption agency to work with and we were drawn to Dillon International for several reasons. 
 
We appreciated Dillon's reputation for being an agency that is Christ centered that holds itself to high ethical standards. With every interaction that we had with the staff at Dillon, we were impressed by how kind and caring everyone is. To us, this truly shows that they are committed to their mission of serving at-risk children and their families as Jesus Christ would serve them.

We also were aware of how important education on the adoption process would be to our family. We realized that a lifetime commitment to our family would be essential. Even though our son has been home less than two years, we have already benefited from the pre- and post-adoption education as well as the cultural events that Dillon provides. We are blessed to have the opportunity to spend time with families who look just like ours--the sense of community at the cultural events is priceless. 
 
We are particullary excited to be helping lead our church as it embarks on our first ever recognition of Orphan Sunday (nationally recognized on Nov. 7). We are working to educate our church family on what each of us can do to help orphans. We hope that our efforts will show our church family that while everyone is not called to adopt, we are all called to do something. 
 
This year as we celebrate Thanksgiving, we count our friends at Dillon as a blessing in our lives."
