October masthead
Fall seems to have arrived overnight! The weather is cooler and at Dillon we have several fall activities lined up. As the year reaches it's last quarter we are reflecting on what we've done as well as planning projects for 2011.
Join the Fun!

It's Fall and we've got a bucketful of events!

Oct. 16 . . . Dillon International is hosting Fall Festivals for families in the Tulsa and Little Rock areas. Everyone is encouraged to join us as we celebrate the change in season. For detailed information about each event click on the links above.

Oct. 24 . . . The 4th annual Missouri Trunk or Treat will be at Beirne Park in Creve Coeur from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Be parked and ready by 3:45 so trunk or treating can begin at 4 p.m. Come in costume and bring treats to hand out and a small pumpkin to paint after we finish trunk or treating! We will have hot dogs and a dinner buffet in the park pavilion. Contact our Missouri office to find out what to bring for the dinner buffet.

Oct. 29 . . . Trick or Treat at the Tulsa office! Each year the staff at our Tulsa office delights in getting to enjoy the costumes of our kiddos. Join us from 2:30 to 4:30 at the Tulsa office for a chance to "Trick or Treat."

What an evening!
One table of trivia goers enjoying a feast during the evening's fun.

Trivia Nights are an awesome crowd draw from games with local trivia to games of "Will it float?"

With the help of the Young Asian-American Professionals Association (YAPA) and several volunteers, Margie Wasielewski, director of the Missouri office, created a successful evening for many. Their massive undertaking paid off as they collected over 100 items for a silent auction and raffles. Word of the event spread and days before the night of the event all 250 seats were sold out.

This fundraising event benefited the Missouri office and the children supported by Dillon's humanitarian aid. You can visit the
orphanCare website to learn more about current projects and countries that Dillon supports.

Leading the participants in guesses of whether an orange floats or sinks and what the cat's name was in the old Dick and Jane readers was Charlie Brennan, KMOX anchor and Dillon dad.

A big thanks to Margie, Dillon volunteers and other Dillon staff for an awesome evening in Missouri!

"We chose Dillon because of its lifetime commitment to adoptees and their families. Over the years our family has benefited from Dillon's culture camps, educational workshops and numerous social activities that provide opportunities to connect with other families.

Dillon is a non-profit agency and so relies on donations and fundraising to continue offering these services. I was happy to contribute to the success of the recent Trivia Night and Silent Auction benefiting Dillon. It was so encouraging to see many Dillon families become involved by working at the event, inviting their friends and family to attend and donating funds or auction and raffle items. The event was sold out! Together we can make a difference in a child's life.

I will be forever grateful for Dillon International and its staff members--like Margie Wasielewski, director of Missouri adoptions--who work tirelessly to make life better for homeless children and for adoptive families. I encourage other Dillon families and friends to consider ways you can use your gifts to enable Dillon to continue fulfilling its vital mission and its lifetime commitment to each child and family they serve."
