Join Dia and the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce for the Uncorked Cocktail on Saturday, August 7, 2010. The Cocktail is an opportunity for Hudson Valley cultural leaders, business professionals, and supporters to share an evening of conversation and refreshments within the galleries of Dia:Beacon. This year's event will honor Mary Madden, President and CEO of the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, for her longstanding commitment to the Hudson Valley. The Cocktail also supports Dia:Beacon's programs and exhibitions, and the GSDCC's mission of creating economic growth in the region.

Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster Book Covers

Available at www.diabooks.org and the Dia:Beacon Bookshop

Commissioned by Dia and on view from September 23, 2009−June 27, 2010, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster's exhibition chronotopes & dioramas offered an annex to the renowned research library at the Hispanic Society of America. Gonzalez-Foerster expanded and updated that historic collection with a range of twentieth-century literature by some forty authors, whose books were arranged by reference to their place of origin in one of three dioramas evoking distinct geographical regions: the desert, the tropics, and the North Atlantic.

This companion volume which has three different covers includes a photo "atlas" by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster; new writing by the celebrated Spanish novelist Enrique Vila-Matas; an essay by exhibition curator Lynne Cooke with parallel commentary by Gonzalez-Foerster; and writings by editor and author Bradford Morrow, who addresses the narratives and fictions embedded in each of the dioramas. Published by Dia Art Foundation. Distributed by D.A.P.
