As part of Northern Manhattan's Uptown Arts Stroll, a month-long series of cultural events, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster's exhibition chronotopes & dioramas will be open late for the kick-off event held at The Hispanic Society.

Public Tour, 6:15pm
A public tour will be begin at 6:15pm in The Hispanic Society's newly reinstalled Sorolla Gallery followed by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster's project in the East Gallery Building.

For Dia's series of Community Free Days, residents of neighboring counties Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster, and Westchester are invited to visit Dia:Beacon free of charge. Please bring a driver's license or other government-issued ID for entry to the museum.

Gallery Talk: Introducing Dia:Beacon

Steven Evans, Managing Director of Dia:Beacon, will discuss the transformation of Dia:Beacon from a Nabisco Box Printing factory to a museum, and introduce key aspects of Dia's renowned collection and distinctive history.

Guided tours of Dia's collection

Tours will include five recently reinstalled galleries dedicated to the work of John Chamberlain, Walter De Maria, Imi Knoebel, Agnes Martin, and Robert Ryman.

2:00pm
Family Tour and Activity

A guided exploration for families through Dia's collection, followed by an activity session in the Learning Lab. Open to children 6 and above accompanied by an adult.

3:00pm
Gallery Talk: The Landscape and Gardens of Dia:Beacon

Naomi Sachs, ASLA, Founder and Executive Director, Therapeutic Landscapes Resource Center, Inc. will discuss the plantings that surround Dia:Beacon. Designed by artist Robert Irwin, Dia:Beacon's landscape masterplan reflects the diversity of the Hudson River Valley and the changing seasons.

All visitors will receive 20% off Dia:Beacon, the publication dedicated to Dia:Beacon and the collection, as well as Hudson Valley-related books and merchandise.

In addition to the café, an outdoor concession will provide seasonal fare.

This companion volume to the exhibition at Dia at the Hispanic Society includes a photo "atlas" by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster; new writing by Spanish novelist Enrique Vila-Matas; an essay by curator Lynne Cooke with parallel commentary by Gonzalez-Foerster; and a contribution by author and editor Bradford Morrow. Published by Dia Art Foundation. Distributed by D.A.P.

Book Launch and Closing Celebration

Eduardo Lago will address the continuing multifaceted exchange and collaboration between Spanish novelist Enrique Vila-Matas and Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster.

Eduardo Lago, director of the Cervantes Institute in New York, is a Spanish novelist, translator, and literary critic. His first novel, Llámame Brooklyn (Call Me Brooklyn) won the Premio Nadal award in 2006. For many years, he interviewed North American writers for the literary supplement Babelia in the Spanish newspaper El País. He is currently on leave from teaching Spanish and Spanish literature at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York.

Karina Daskalov is associate director of Marian Goodman Gallery, New York, where she curated the exhibition "Reflecting the Mirror," as well as "Contradicting Architecture" and "Invisible Colors" at Marian Goodman Gallery, Paris. In 2000-2001 she co-curated "Shima/Islands," a one year-long project at the Shigemori Garden Museum in Kyoto. She wrote her M.A. thesis on Gerhard Richter.
