Adolescent Health Infrastructure Tool: Parents and Parental Involvement

The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy's online collection of resources promotes youth and parent empowerment, and helps teens and their families prevent teen pregnancy. The practical tools and general resources can also be used to support adolescent health advocates at the community level in creating local level systems that effectively address teen pregnancy.

American Bar Association: Child Health Project

The American Bar Association's (ABA) Child Health Project seeks to ensure that attorneys, judges, and other legal professionals serving families of young children are well-informed about child health and demonstrate appropriate skills to integrate child health into their work. In support of these efforts, the ABA provides several practice and policy briefs that promote the health and well-being of children in the child welfare system.

Safe Infant Sleep Videos

The National SUID/SIDS Resource Center highlights several recent videos about safe sleep for infants; all videos align with the 2011 American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for a safe sleep environment. This resource also connects users with webcasts and other online resources addressing sudden infant death risk.
Nationwide Initiatives on Preconception Health
Developed by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Maternal Wellness, this report highlights several preconception health initiatives in states across the nation. Findings from key informant interviews emphasize the importance of innovative strategies and state-local partnerships to promote preconception health and maximize tight budgets.

With One Voice 2012: Highlights from a Survey of Teens and Adults about Teen Pregnancy and Related Issues

Findings from this recent survey, developed by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, demonstrate the impact parents have on teen pregnancy prevention. While the majority of adolescents identify their parents as most influential to their decisions and attitudes towards sex, 87 percent of teens do not engage in open, honest discussions about these topics with their parents.

New Online Data from the 2009-10 National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs

New data available on the Data Resource Center for Child and Adolescent Health's website can help local health departments serve and advocate for minority children with special health care needs (CSHCN). Among other measures, users can compare key indicators and outcomes for CSHCN by race/ethnicity and household education level.
