Adolescent Health Infrastructure Tool: Ready by 21 Broader Partnerships Toolkit

Effective partnerships are developed from clear agreements, a thorough understanding of the work to be done, sufficient capacity to achieve set goals, and proper management. Developed by the Forum for Youth Investment, this toolkit guides youth advocates and professionals in building partnerships and leadership councils; aligning and strengthening coalitions, commissions, and intermediaries, and; engaging key stakeholders in setting priorities and solving problems.

Family Voices recently released a series of fun, concise, and user-friendly fact sheets designed to support families in providing their children with a healthy start in life.

DHPE manages a robust internship program that places undergraduate and graduate students of minority serving institutions in public health settings, including local health departments (LHDs). DHPE can draw from a national application pool of students that are eager to gain practical public health work experience and provide internship services administration and support for your LHD. Newborn Screening Webinar Series 
This webinar series addresses the ethical and legal issues states may face regarding the storage and secondary use of dried blood spots (DBS) and associated data. Sponsored in part by the Network for Public Health Law, the first webinar of this series will be held on April 26, from 1:00-2:00 PM EDT.

Funding Opportunity: Best Fed Beginnings 

With support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Baby-Friendly USA, the National Initiative for Children's Healthcare Quality is leading the Best Fed Beginnings project, a national effort to improve maternity care in hospitals and increase breastfeeding support for mothers and their babies. This funding opportunity will help hospitals achieve Baby-Friendly designation.

NACCHO recently reorganized the Maternal and Child Health, Adolescent Health, and Birth Defects Prevention webpages into one easy-to-navigate Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health webpage containing the latest news, resources, events, and funding opportunities available to LHDs. NACCHO's Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health Toolkit offers downloadable tools and resources for local health departments. This toolkit connects local health departments with publications, tools, and other resources related to maternal, child, and adolescent health.
