IADA'S NEW WEB-BASED REGISTRATION SERVICE:   Beginning This Summer

After carefully listening to dealer concerns and suggestions on IADA's registration reports we are proud to announce that IADA is launching a new way in which dealers in Idaho receive and use registration data!  IADA will be offering a first of its type for auto dealers associations by producing a web based reporting and data search engine.

Out with the old, in with the new:

The old registration report, with its static excel based reports, has been a valuable tool for the dealers for the past 15 years but soon with the addition of  the "IADA Custom Report Builder1.0" it will become an invaluable tool for you and your managers!  From the comfort of your office chair, or on the road with your laptop, the new web-based registration report builder will allow subscribers to login in 24\7 and produce customizable reports that include registrations by geography, dealer market share, make market share, annual trends, pump in / pump out, lienholder and many other exciting features.

AUTOMOTIVE NEWS AT A GLANCE

Listed here are several articles pertaining to the auto industry that appeared recently in newspapers and other media outlets across the nation.

NATIONAL TOP STORIES

  • Inside Politics: New legislation will bring premiums back up
    The Greeley Tribine, June 8
Colorado motorists who are unfortunate enough to be injured in a crash will have one less thing to worry about thanks to a bill signed by Gov. Bill Ritter late last week.
  • Top Car Dealer Says High Gas Prices Are Good for the U.S. Auto Industry
The Wall Street Journal, June 9
Detroit's big auto makers are slashing jobs, closing factories and undertaking costly revamps of their product strategies to cope with $4 a gallon gas. What's the worst thing that could happen now? Gas could get cheap again, says the man who runs America's biggest auto retailer.
  • Hiprocracy on gas -- Energy policy idiocy
    New York Post, June 5
Rising in the Senate on May 13, Chuck Schumer, the New York Democrat, explained: "I rise to discuss rising energy prices." The president was heading to Saudi Arabia to seek an increase in its oil production, and Schumer's gorge was rising.
  • Gasoline tops $4.00 for first time
    USA Today, June 8
U.S. gasoline prices shot above $4 a gallon for the first time Sunday, and drivers will be shelling out even more for gas this week.
  • Drivers choose cars over trucks as auto sales plunge
    USA Today, June 3
Cars outsold the top-selling Ford F-series truck in May for the first time since 1992, a sign of the rapid shift in customers' preferences from trucks and SUVs to small cars that is forcing painful production cuts and plant closures at General Motors and Ford Motor.
  • Chrysler closes efficiency gap with Toyota
    The Detroit News, June 6
Chrysler LLC tied Toyota Motor Corp. as the most efficient automaker in North America, while General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. joined in virtually erasing the productivity gap between Detroit's Big Three automakers and their Asian rivals, according to the 2008 Harbour Report North America.
  • Wonder why Detroit gets a bad rap?
    The Detroit News, June 6
Can't imagine why Detroit gets a bad rap, whatever the arcana of its individual product cycle plans. Perception is reality to folks outside the automotive bubble -- you know, the people who actually buy the stuff -- and the perception is that Detroit is pushing the wrong new metal for the times and losing a lot of money doing it because, well, it is.
  • Confessions of a Pro-Trade Democrat
The Wall Street Journal, June 9
Where are the pro-trade Democrats? America won't increase middle-class incomes and create jobs without them

    News From NADA: Dealer Surveys

Beginning with the summer 2008 Dealer Attitude Survey (DAS) (available online July 7 to August 7), NADA will no longer mail paper surveys to dealers.  NADA has designed a new full-service DAS Web site to facilitate the move to an online-only format, which will speed up the survey processing time.

Dealers must fill out a brief registration form at the new site to receive a unique user ID to participate in the summer and subsequent surveys. For questions, contact NADA Industry Relations at: industryrelations@nada.org or call (703) 821-7010

    LEGISLATIVE & REGULATORY UPDATES

Additional information will be available from fee-based Webinars that NADA will conduct from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on August 26, 2008 and September 23, 2008.  (Registration information will be announced soon.)
