A new Manufacturing Renaissance Council forms in the Bay Area

Recently, three prominent leaders agreed they should take what what we we're doing in Chicago and apply it in the San Francisco Bay Area, another manufacturing region.

Winzeler Gear is a plastic gear manufacturer and a longtime Renaissance
Council partner.
Like many other manufacturing companies, Winzeler has spent the last two years since the financial crisis and the collapse of the auto industry coping with reduced demand and attempting to diversify its base.
We recently sat down with John Winzeler, president of Winzeler Gear, to talk about how his company is tackling the current economic downturn. Winzeler Gear's customers are concentrated on the auto industry and traditionally are big three suppliers.
While the recession has caused them to lose sales and personnel, the downturn has also served as an opportunity of sorts for this northwest suburban plastic injection modeling company.

Wind Energy | What we can learn from Cleveland
| The Great Lakes Wind Network, a key partner in our Green Manufacturing Network initiative (along with World Business Chicago), held a supply chain workshop in Cleveland on April 27 for Ohio companies contemplating entering the wind industry.
Dozens of Ohio companies learned about the opportunities in the wind industry, the difficulties of entering this market, the types of components and capabilities required, the technical specifications of many OEMs and how they can learn more about the industry.
Our Green Manufacturing Network is modeled after the Great Lakes Wind Network, which leverages close relationships with wind OEMs to connect local suppliers with customers around the world.
