Support our Students
It takes more than a traditional high school budget to help our students engineer their futures.

We need to invest in our world class machine shop, college- and career-prep program, and work-based projects and activities.

For example, our After School Matters beverage marketing team needs $800 to brand and sell their new product.

Please help by sending us a check, made out to the Center for Polytechnical Education, at 3411 West Diversey, Suite 10, Chicago, Illinois 60647.

Students begin summer jobs with APA partner companies
On June 18, 32 APA students from all grade levels began their summer job experiences with APA partner companies. Participating students will gain valuable work experience while being paid for their time.

The summer job program lasts until August 27, including a three-week hiatus for AP Calculus students, who will be taking summer classes at Austin Polytech and Loyola University.

New MTC Advisory Committee hits the ground running
In June, representatives from eight APA partner companies join forces to form the Manufacturing Technology Center (MTC) Advisory Committee, assuming the responsibility to provide our students with the necessary tools, information, and soft skills they'll need to start their professional careers.

MTC Advisory Meeting

Eager to get started, MTC Advisory Committee members Dan Kiraly (TMA), Jim Baumbich (TMA), Jack Krikorian (Rexam), and Bill Vogel (CPE) met with machining instructor Tom O'Brien on June 26 to develop a 5S Program for the Manufacturing Technology Center.

5S is part of the lean manufacturing protocol employed throughout the advanced manufacturing sector. Austin Polytech graduates will understand 5S and how it fits into a system of continuous improvement, giving them a significant edge in their careers.

Special thanks to all MTC Advisory Committee members for their commitment and expertise. We also thank outstanding educator Don Ruesch, who has taken the lead on the entire MTC program, bringing to APA years of experience implementing NIMS curricula.

Summer Job Profile | Center for Polytechnical Education
Congratulations to APA students Michael Evans and Aquanis Park, both participating in summer job experiences with the Center for Polytechnical Education, for recruiting APA's newest partners: Allied Metals and Brite Site!

The boys have been assisting industrial coordinator Bill Vogel. On July 8, the trio visited sales director Don Dulkoski and CFO Mike Gilford of Allied Metals, then skipped over to Brite Site for a meeting with president Andreas Vassilos. The presentations resulted in a signed letter of commitment from each partner, which Michael and Aquanis proudly display above.

Special thanks to Allied Metals and Brite Site for their support.
