Dear Friends,
We hope you all had an excellent fishing season this summer! In Idaho we experienced high water for several months, but as the fall has set in we're finding some great fishing! In this newsletter we'll pass on our most recent fishing report of various waters across North America (courtesy of the Hyde Pro Staff members). We'll also show some amazing deals on used drift boats. We're currently running sales on our large reconditioned drift boat inventory, and our Demo and Rental Boat inventory (available soon). We have included the results from Jackson Hole's One Fly Tournament and the Green River Single Fly Tournament. It has been a great summer of fishing for LaMoyne and J.Ann Hyde and they are pleased to share a little about it in this newsletter. A Busy Summer!
LaMoyne and J.Ann have had a busy summer out "product testing" - a least that's what we like to call it!. Take a look at the great waters we're been able to visit recently.
 | (From left to right) Brent Schlenker, Dale Freschi, LaMoyne & J.Ann Hyde, and on the Skeena River in British Columbia, Canada |
The picture above was taken a few weeks ago during LaMoyne and J.Ann Hyde's trip to the great Skeena River in British Columbia. They had the opportunity to fish with Dale Freschi (host of Sport Fishing on the Fly), as well as Brent and Dyanne Schlenker from Medicine Hat, Alberta. More can be see about their trip in LaMoyne's Journal of a Fisherman article.
Aside from their visit to the Skeena River in British Columbia, LaMoyne and J.Ann have also recently been fishing on the Elk and Kitimat Rivers in British Columbia, Big Horn River in Montana, Green River in Utah, Missouri in Montana, Snake and Clearwater Rivers in Idaho, and in Bolder, Wyoming (just to name a few!).
The Hyde Drift Boats Team is just returning from the Single Fly Tournament in Green River, Utah. We are proud to sponsor and participate in river conservation fund raisers like the Single Fly Event in Utah as well as the One Fly Tournament in Jackson, WY.
Hyde Boats are always sponsors in numerous environmental fund raising events throughout the year. Our hope is to help preserve our nation's great fisheries and keep the sport of fly fishing viable for our children and future generations.

Rivers of Recovery
We recently received this photo from Dan Cook (Rivers of Recovery Executive Director) of our former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney on the river supporting Rivers of Recovery. This is a great program providing outdoor based therapy to our war veterans with physical or psychological injuries. Thanks for the pictures and keep up the good work!

November Fishing Report
From a few of the Hyde Pro Staff across the world, we are glad to pass on their current fishing report!
Bow River - Alberta It`s hard to believe it`s the end of September. Summer-like weather continues in Southern Alberta and the fishing continues to be good. With no killing frosts as of yet the Hopper fishing has been, for the most part, pretty darn good. BWO`s show up like a blanket on the cloudy days and the Water Boatmen are in full swing. There are also a decent number of October Caddis around, enough to get the fish interested. With the weatherman telling us we should expect better than average weather for the next couple of weeks it looks like we`ll have a little bit of ``bonus`` fishing into October on the Bow.
Mike Gifford Country Pleasures
South Fork, Henry's Fork, & Henry's Lake - Idaho It's been an unusual year to say the least. The South Fork of the Snake River has been good with south fork Chernobyl's, small PMD's, Adams, and Emergers. The days are warm (high 70's) and the day light hours decreasing (make sure you have time if your going on a long float). Henry's Fork has been slow with work continuing on Ashton Dam. Henry's lake is red hot, streamers, small nymphs & bead heads. Fish near the mouths of the creeks and by the county boat ramp. Large Brook trout are staging (and Cutts are in the mix also) 15-20 fish days are likely.
Clear Water River - Idaho Steelhead are showing up in large numbers in the Clearwater River and fishing has been good on a catch and release basis. Many "B" fish are showing up in the 12-15 lbs range and with low water fishing for these large fish has been good. 110,000 steelies so far and the best stretch is currenly from Orofino to Pink House.
Jim "Bear" Peterson Hyde Drift Boats Smoky Mountain Streams - Tennessee Cool autumn weather has arrived early in the Smoky Mountain region and we're glad it has since we had an unusually hot summer. October is one of the top months of the year for fishing in East Tennessee because of the typically cool and dry weather.
Streams in the Smokies are always at their peak in the fall and fish will be looking up. Start the morning fishing small nymphs in the range of #16 or just have a leisurely breakfast and get to the water around 11:00 when the sun gets on the water. The fish aren't picky and you can get them on a #14 Parachute Adams, but a #18 BWO Parachute will probably keep your refusals to a minimum.
TVA generation on our big rivers can be inconsistent from one year to the next, but we usually start to get consistent flows on the Clinch by mid-October. Midges are always a big part of the equation on the Clinch but we'll also see small black caddis when we float in the fall and that keeps the fish looking up. TVA has set schedules on the Clinch on the weekends, but those are most valuable for those who wade the rivers. Flows around 3500 cfs are impossible to wade but perfect for floating. Nymphing is usually the most effective way of taking fish but expect to see pods of risers in several spots. Streamer fishing might not catch the most fish on the Clinch, but a 4 - 10 pound brown trout is a possibility any time you try here.
By the middle of October we're also starting to float the Tuckaseegee near Dillsboro, NC. Delayed Harvest regulations start the first of the month and flows are usually good for floating. Some years it may be November before flows are bumped enough to float, but we usually make numerous trips over there through the fall and winter. Attractor nymphs and streamers are best. Dry fly action is pretty limited on this river.
Smallmouth bass are usually pretty active all the way through October. The Pigeon River is one of our favorites. Fishing with poppers is the most fun, but they will continue to take streamers like Clouser Minnows as water temperatures cool into the 50's.
Ian & Charity Rutter Smoky Mountain Guide Service
Pere Marquette River - Michigan Daytime fishing is still holding on well for trout with assorted hatch flies, terrestrials, and even nymph fishing. Nymphing will hold all winter and fall and "Eggin" is just another way to say you are nymphing because you are using nymph rigs when you do in fact Egg Fish. Black anything seems to bring them up to the surface the best midday, but variations of tan and yellow have produced. Also have been seeing plenty of Iso still flying with some assorted Olives, Trico, and Caddis in the mix too. If you're nymphing, just stick with the basics like Prince, Haresear, Pheasantail....etc. Egg size, color, and pattern selection is too large to specify, especially when most of the patterns I am using are tied by me specific for the happening and NOT JUST EGGS YOU WOULD BY IN A FLY SHOP!!! If you think the beads fish good, you would love these! Hopper fishing will last and can be done the whole of Eggin Season so long as the temps don't really plummet; that said, we have seen the best of the Hopper and surface fishing this year... so I will start looking forward to next!
Tommy Lynch Hawkins Outfitters www.TheFishWhisperer.com Shenandoah - Virginia North and South Fork of the Shenandoah: Good water levels from recent rains. The fishing is fair with your best chances for success during the afternoon warm periods. Streamers like Olive or Black Madtom's, Pearl Marauders and nymphs like Hellgrammites will produce the best results. Top water fishing has been best on the hottest days when the damselflies are most active. Shenandoah National Park Streams: The brook trout will begin spawning any day now so let's give these guys a break until next Spring. Shenandoah Valley Stocked Trout Streams: The VA Dept. of Game and Inland Fisheries has not begun stocking as of the time I am writing this. This will resume in early to mid - October.
