Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there. ~ Will Rogers |
| WHAT WE BELIEVE | |
In ONE God expressing through every living being.
We believe that God is personal to everyone and makes itself known to all who recognize its presence.
We believe that God is Love and only creates out of a desire to express Love.
We believe and trust that God has in mind the highest and greatest good for every person and is always seeking to bring that good into their life.
We believe that our thought is creative and that how we choose to think creates our personal experience.
We believe that by changing the way we think, we can affect our lives in a positive, healing way.
We believe in the unity of all life and the immortality of the individual soul forever unfolding.
We believe in the eternal Goodness, the eternal Loving-Kindness and the Givingness of life to all.

| PERENNIAL PHILOSOPHY |
May my feet rest firmly on the ground, May my head touch the sky,
May I see clearly,
May I have the capacity to listen,
May I be free to touch,
May my words be true,
May my heart be empty to fill the need,
May my arms be open to others,
May my gifts be revealed to me,
So I may return that which has been given,
Completing the great circle.

| OUR PURPOSE |
This Center exists to support all people with the transformation of their lives. We do this by teaching Spiritual Principle and by celebrating the Promise of Living.
Our philosophy, outlook and practice is based on the pioneering work of Dr. Ernest Holmes. Our basic textbook is "The Science of Mind" by Dr. Holmes. Our founding pastor was Dr. David J. Walker. We honor his legacy by adhering to the essence of the Science of Mind teachings and by treating to know "that the innermost God and the highest God are one and the same."

What Inspires Me
We all seem to know that "it takes a village" to raise a child. And so it is. But it also takes a village to create the experience we call "church." For those of you who are new to LACRS, you may not be aware of how many good people are involved in handling all the tasks and activities that are required to bring about our Sunday celebrations. Believe me, there are lots of them.
You may not be aware of that because it just feels like there's a very pleasant "hum" of activity when you arrive. But there are dozens of dedicated congregants who all pitch in to make Sunday "happen." Each and every one of them has learned something really important by their voluntary participation--they've learned that being of service is a pleasure. It's not burdensome. It's a real joy.
When you care about something, and choose to make that caring a part of your spiritual practice, you will find that it's always easy to say "yes." It was a long time before I learned to say "yes." But when I did, I discovered there was joy and power to be experienced when I knew that I was doing my part.
What inspires me is the number of folks who consistently turn out to lend-a-hand on Sundays. Many have been doing it for a really long time. For those of you who serve on Sundays--a heart-felt Thank You from me and on behalf of all who attend. You make a difference (as we're fond of saying around here).
Your cheerfulness helps to set a tone of community, a tone that says "Welcome." Smiles of Greeters help to heal. Ushers act as stewards of our gifts. Practitioners lovingly enfold the entire ministry in Treatment. The Sound & Light crew are indispensable to our service. Those at the Welcome and Book Tables build bridges to new comers. And all those who work in the various aspects of Hospitality make LACRS a place where we really want to be on Sunday mornings.
Thank you all. Because of your consciousness of joyful, selfless service you're not just helping--you are LACRS.

Treatment for August
Practicing The Good Relationship Principle In Every Area Of My Life Today!
I celebrate (practice) my good every morning when I actualize who I know I am. Knowing there is only Infinite Intelligence (which many of us call God) I also know that I am this intelligence, expressing my individuality through thoughts, feelings and actions.
I practice living in complete awareness of who I am, and in maintaining a good relationship with God. All other relationships depend on my belief in this Principle.
Throughout each day, I remind myself and reconnect mentally to this truth. When "things" happen that take me out of this Principle, I immediately pause, I Treat, and I release any false beliefs. I practice my relationship with Mind in my personal behavior and everywhere I may go throughout my day--in my thoughts as I deal with friends and family, workplace associations--always remembering my relationship is one with Spirit.
When I fully embrace and practice this most important relationship with God, my life is fulfilled and complete. It is truly good - and getting better by the moment. I know:
My relationship with God/Good is unlimited.
I am the grace, gratitude and goodness in my life today.
The creative process within me is Good.

Classes in August
REV. MARIAN G. MOON PRESENTS A NEW CLASS Thursdays August 12th & August 19th
Self Esteem Potential
This is a class for gaining greater Self-awareness and freedom of expression. We all have the potential for living authentic lives. Yet many lack the understanding to be free and confident in this regard. Self- esteem frees us from anxieties and fears and empowers us us to fulfill our potential for success and happiness.
"Self-esteem is a basic confidence in Self. It is something we all need, require and innately possess" the experts tell us. We all want this confidence but often feel incapable of expressing our true worth as spiritual beings.
This class is an important must for getting to know who you are and what you can be. it will help you gain confidence by learning to trust yourself in making clear choices regarding your actions and reactions. Self- esteem helps you recognize your worth as a spiritual being and realize a greater capacity for success, happiness and creative self-expression.
Join us at the Center two weeks in August.
When: 2 Thursdays @ 7:30 - 9:30PM Where: LACRS Center / Wilshire Blvd. Admission: $25 for both classes or $15 for single night. What: No text is required. No previous class is required.Starting September 15th "Spiritual Economics" Rev. John McLean Wednesdays in September - October An SOM II Class

| LACRS Women's Club
The next meeting of the LACRS Women's Club will be held on Sunday August 15th in our class room at:
6404 Wilshire Boulevard Suite 500
(free parking in the building)
We extend an invitation to anyone interested in the activities and fellowshop of the group. For more information, please feel free to contact Sherry Mandan at 818-766-3035. |
From The Board
At our first Board meeting we addressed the fact that current membership was less than required by the by-laws. To bring the number of Trustees up to the required number of 6 members plus the Spiritual Leader, the Board invited Elizabeth Dadd into Board service. Elizabeth meets every possible criteria for a trustee--by a long shot. Long-time member, devoted student, Licensed Practitioner, co-facilitator of the Women's Club, Elizabeth is a more than qualified candidate. She will occupy the vacate seat until our next Annual Business Meeting - March 6, 2011.

Lessons Of Truth
SPIRITUAL HEALING Rev. Marian G. Moon
What is spiritual healing? It is a return to a consciousness of wholeness - a return to our intrinsic perfection as spiritual beings. Dr. Ernest Holmes believed that there is a divine pattern in the Mind of God that forever supports the integrity of our being. No matter what we go though our how our lives appear, this pattern can never be altered or diminished.
What can change is our awareness of ourselves. What we believe and identify with can become our experience. This is because of the Law of Mind that responds to our thought and gives us a correspondent of our thought. However, since there is no real foundation in the Mind of God for anything less that our spiritual wholeness we can choose to align our thought with the Truth of wholeness.
With a new way of thinking about the Self we experience a change of consciousness. This registers as a change in how we see ourselves and what we believe to be true about ourselves. By lifting our thought and belief to our spiritual wholeness we experience this change of consciousness. The possibility of healing our minds, bodies and affairs is always attainable when we think, believe and accept this principle of spiritual wholeness. |

| The Final Word
Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is beauty, admire it. Life is bliss, taste it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it.
Mother Teresa of Calcutta
