Pray
Heavenly Father, I come to You now to renew my place in
You. I acknowledge that You are the Creator of all things and the Provider of all I
need. You are the Great I AM. The First and the Last, the King of kings and
Lord of lords. You alone are life. No one comes before You, and today, I will
pursue life in You as my greatest passion.
Father, thank You for ransoming me with the life of Your
Son. Jesus, thank You for being my substitute and paying for all of my sins. I
believe in Your resurrection, and it is through my faith in You that I can now
approach my Heavenly Father with freedom and confidence. I claim the power of
Your resurrection in my life and I now bring every aspect of my life, including
my family [name your spouse and/or children] and my work under Your authority
and Your Kingdom.
In You, Jesus, I have received a new life and have been
raised to walk in the newness of that life. I ask that Your Holy Spirit search
me, know me and reveal to me any aspect of my life that is not pleasing to You.
Show me the things in my life that prevent me from knowing Your will, and give
me the strength to repent. Holy Spirit, I also ask you to awaken my heart to
everything You want to do through me and the steps You want me to take for You.
Jesus, I believe You have new things to declare for my life and I ask in Your
name that You make them known to me.
Jesus, I
also ask You to reveal to me in every way possible those in my current
relationships for whom I should intercede in prayer and reach out to in Your
name. I pray today for opportunities to be Your light in their life so they
will grow in the knowledge of You.
Father,
I pray for all of the leaders at Stonecreek Church who join with me for this
time of prayer. Search us, break us and unify us as men and women of the one
true living God so new things can be accomplished for Your Kingdom in our
homes, our community and around the world.
Holy
Spirit, fill Your church with the strength and endurance to bring spiritual
revolution in these times. Stir our hearts to pray as never before and to have
discernment and a boldness to share the life we have in Jesus.
Now,
Father, I pray for 10/10/10 and every new thing You will bring about in me, my
community and our church. You are able to do immeasurably more than all I
can ever ask or imagine. To You be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations, forever and ever!
Amen. Reflect | My Work Under Your Kingdom
I now bring...my work under Your authority and Your
Kingdom.
Why is it so important for us to surrender our work to God's
authority? Why do we need to bring it under His Kingdom? Work is work. It is a necessary evil. We all have to endure the old grindstone to put food on the table, clothes on our back and a roof over our head.
But what if there is more to work
than that? Work has always been part of God's plan for us. From the
very beginning of creation He had a job for Adam. Work was not created as
punishment after sin entered the world, it was created well before to fulfill our longing
for a sense of purpose.
Why are we here? To glorify God.
How do we do that? By giving Him first place in everything we say and do.
We are to live a life fully surrendered to God. A
life with clear purpose is one that gives God the glory in everything. Colossians 3:17 reads, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it
all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." It's not just about WHAT we're doing, it's also about HOW we do it. What is the attitude of
our heart? How do we treat people? Are we respectful, honest and trustworthy?
And when we are successful, do we take all the credit or do we give God praise for our ability to perform the task set before us as well as the compensation
we receive?
There is an account in the Bible of a meeting between Jesus and a
wealthy and powerful young man (Luke 18:18-25). This man
realized that there was something different about Jesus, and the man's goal was to find out more of what Jesus had to offer. In the end, however, the young man left his encounter with Jesus
extremely unhappy. Jesus showed the young man what was missing from his life. But
the young man was unwilling to give up what he had built for the Kingdom Jesus had to offer.
The problem in this story wasn't the position or amount of possessions the young man had worked so hard to acquire. There are many
examples in scripture and history of wealthy people living lives fully
committed to God and His purpose. The problem was in the attitude of the young man's heart. The rich young man was unable to give God first place in his work and life because he couldn't see past
what was already occupying the space.
Respond Are you guilty of the same?
As you look to the start of another week, what needs
to change in your view of work and gaining possessions? Is there a THAT in your life that is
keeping you from experiencing the fullness God intends for you?
What needs to
change to allow God to show you His new THIS?
