Do not give into greed

There was once a very greedy man who lived in the times of kings and queens.  This man did something which pleased the king very much.  Consequently, the king offered him the gift of his choice.  The man said, "If it pleases you, my lord, I would like as much land as I can cover on horseback from dawn till dusk."  The king agreed.

At the break of dawn the greedy man started on his horse.  He rode all morning with one thought in his mind, "Every break that I take means less land for me."  So, both the horse and the rider went hungry and thirsty for many hours.

As the sun was setting, the greedy man stopped his horse.  While dismounting, he felt dizzy and started falling.  On his way down, his head hit a sharp stone.  The man died on impact.

People came to bury the greedy man and pitied him.  They said, "He wanted lots of land, but in the end, he only needs a few feet of land in which to be buried.  All the rest went to waste."

Greed is an extremely dangerous vice.  Do not give into it.  Curb your desires.  Happiness does not lie in possessing more, but in wanting less.  Realize that you already have enough; in fact, you have so much that you should be sharing with others.

If you must be greedy, be greedy about wanting to give.
