Listen to the reminders from God

We regularly receive notices through email, answering machine and postal mail.  There are reminders to renew the driver's license; reminders to go in for routine dental appointments and medical checkups, reminders to pay the water and electricity bills on time, and reminders to return the library books, to name a few.

Though we may not be aware of it, but even God issues reminders.  The hair starts turning grey.  A reminder from God that old age is coming soon.  What do we do with this reminder?  We promptly get rid of it by coloring the grey.  "I would rather dye than show my age" is our motto.  A quick trip to the pharmacy is all it takes to get rid of the reminder God has issued.

Knees start becoming stiff.  Oh, how they hurt!  This is a reminder for us to stop bending over backwards to please the world.  Failing eyesight is a reminder to limit watching TV and to stop reading trivial books and newspapers.  Digestive power is not the same as before, and the teeth are becoming weaker and weaker.  These are surely reminders to eat less.  When hearing starts to fail, treat it as a reminder to listen less to what people are saying, and to turn inwardly.  When we are not able to move without a walking stick, we are reminded to discard the ego stemming from youth and good health.  The various aches and pains serve as reminders that we will have to vacate the premises of the physical body any day.

Listen to the reminders from God.

Yours,
Didi Ji

Song of the Week: Apnapan Rakhna Mere Ghanshyam
Didi Ji

A beautiful song, Apnapan Rakhna Mere Ghanshyam, has been added to our website this week. In this song, composed by Shri Maharaj Ji and sung beautifully by Manna Dey, a devotee pleads to Shri Krishna to always look at him as His own.
