Don't worry about it
Worry is a big part of life for many people, who routinely torment themselves over real as well as imaginary problems. At times we become absolutely paralyzed by the worries in our mind and cannot be at peace in the present. If a worry enters your mind, do not react to it. Keep a cool head and think, "Is this a valid concern?" If you are worried about whether or not your son will pass his exam or whether or not you will be able to keep your job, immediately tell yourself that worrying will not solve anything. Your mind will say, "Well! Don't just sit there; do something about it." Here is what you should do. Think about the worst case scenario. Your son has failed his important exam and you have lost your job. Now think, "If this happens, will it be the end of the world?" The answer is 'no'. Your son will take another exam and you will apply for another job. Sometimes there are worries that you can truly do something about. Let's say that you are worried about not finishing an assignment or meeting an important deadline. In such a case the best thing to do is to take immediate action. Rather than worrying about it, go ahead and start working on the assignment. As difficult as this may seem to be, it is the best thing to do. Do not allow worries to overtake your mind and turn it into a minefield. Defeat them by accepting that worrying is not a solution, but a problem. Don't worry about it. Yours, Didi Ji |
