Learn from life
The entire world is our teacher, offering valuable lessons on a daily basis. You just have to keep your eyes and ears open. Getting out of the car at the airport yesterday I was surprised to hear a man asking in Hindi, "Aap kaisee hain?" (how are you?) One of the passengers in my car thought the man had said "Jai Siya Ram" (All glories to God). However, the man speaking these words was obviously not a Hindi speaker. What he was really saying was, 'I'll be seein' ya' to the friend dropping him off. I learned from this incident that I often hear what I want to hear and that I can easily make a mistake in understanding others. While waiting to board my flight, I observed a little boy who was playing a game all by himself. He had taken some paper which was to be discarded, and had made a ball out of it. He was shooting this ball into the garbage bin. Again and again the paper ball fell outside the bin. Again and again the boy picked it up and tried to shoot it inside. He was completely oblivious of everything and everyone around him. I learned from the little boy to pursue my goal in life and to keep trying and trying without being embarrassed about the failed attempts. As I stood in line to board the plane, I saw that the gate agent was smiling and greeting everyone with a sparkle in her eyes. It seemed obvious that she enjoyed her job. I learned from the gate agent that I should perform service with a smile and that anything worth doing is worth doing it well.Yours, Didi Ji
