In many parts of the world people do some heavy duty cleanup in the spring season.  They fix up the house, paint it, discard what cannot be used and give away what can be used by others.  Spring cleaning includes taking out the weeds from the garden and planting new flowers. 

This is an annual ritual which needs to be adapted for the mind also.  So, let us do some internal spring cleaning.

 

Make a mental checklist:

• What do I need to discard? 

• What do I need to fix?

 Looking inside, you will find a lot of junk.  There are angry thoughts, bitterness, thoughts of envy and many grudges you are holding towards people who may no longer be a part of your life.  Take the broom of knowledge and sweep all these thoughts away; they are taking up a lot of space.  You will also find good stuff that is being ignored: compassion, generosity, modesty and understanding.  Take the polish of discernment and make them shine. 

 

There are many illogical fears you have within; these are like weeds in the garden.  Use the power of strength and courage to pull these weeds out.  Plant the flowers of faith, hope and prayer in your mind.
