Christmas Blessings
December 24, 2011
In stillness, silence and sweet softness a newborn baby was born who changed the world forever.

Except for a brilliant star and a baby's cry, He entered this world in a quiet dark place. In a most humble unassuming way He came, bringing peace, love, and joy to a world of unrest.

We long for this peace, love and joy... yet we struggle to make sense of a place for peace and we wrestle with finding joy in the stuff of our lives. We cannot ignore the stirring of our souls to find quiet purpose of serenity amidst a world of chaos and conflict.

The peace of Christmas is about peace with God... reconciliation, restoration, redemption, and ultimate joy. Peace is not the absence of strife, but the active pursuing of harmony strengthwith God. Active surrender to The One who brings us His peace - a peace that brings uncommon strength to the hard places we find ourselves.

We will never escape the circumstances of this world... but de
spite noise, trouble, illness, pain, grief, sorrow, brokenness and loss...we can find peace.

We can find STRENGTH in the calm within our hearts.

There's a reason the Christmas Carols remind us of peace in simple words...
'silent stars'    ' silent night'    'stillness lie'   'all is calm'   'midnight clear'
 ... linger on these wonderful word pictures.

Take a moment to be still and look skyward as the silent stars go by.

You will be reminded that God sits in heaven, that He is Our Creator and Provider, our Redeemer, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, The Prince of Peace.

In the quiet moments of a silent night we can receive this peace...a peace that we cannot fully explain but that we can surely know... a peace that begins with Christ in us.

His peace. His hope. His love, His joy...
His STRENGTH.

May your Christmas be filled with His great peace.

"For to us a child is born,

   to us a son is given,

   and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called
   Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

   Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Isaiah 9:6

Question to ponder...

What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;

Yet what I can I give Him...

I give my heart.
