A time for new shoes?

old shoesI need to throw them out.

I can't even donate them because they're completely worn through and unable to provide any support or insulation to any other pair of feet that should dare to chance them.

They are my favorite pair of walking shoes. The thin crisscross toe strap finally snapped and I placed them in the bin only to remove them again the next morning. I've grown comfortable in them. They fit the shape of my foot. They fold in just the right places. They don't make my feet tired. They can't be replaced!

Can they?

Can I move on from old comfort? I ask myself.

Jesus never seemed to stay in old comfort.
He broke every boundary of comfort.

He was quiet when others expected retaliation. He worked among lepers and confronted worn out traditions. He exchanged hatred for love. Daily he broke away from comfort... something I have trouble doing.

Jill Brisco, best selling author of more than 40 books developed from her lifelong study of Scripture, shared with me once that "...ministry is between your two feet...whereever you are, you are called to do The Lord's work.  Occasionally, you will find the need to step out into a place that is not comfortable, a place of risk and faith where you know it is only God's strength that is holding you.

This is the place where God will use you most -- the place that is not comfortable or familiar."

So I put my old shoes in the bin again. And I look for new shoes.

Joining you in the journey,

message in a bottle

message in a bottle
Did you know... that the oldest bottle discovered was thrown into the ocean in 1914 and discovered on a beach in 2006, ninety-two years later?

Did you know...  In the 15th Century, Queen Elizabeth had an official "bottle opener", and made it illegal for commoners to open bottles from the beach for fear they would intercept military secrets because the royal navy used bottles to convey messages?

Messages in bottles can be so many things... a love note, a search for a friend, a plea for help... most importantly they usually contain some personal way for one person to connect with another.

Do you need to hear a message from God intended just for you?

breakaway words with us for a weekend. Join us for a weekend by the ocean and share in friendship, laughter, great food, sunrise worship, rest, reflection, spiritual challenge and a word from God.

Put your feet in the sand and join us for a great Breakaway.

There is a message waiting for you!

spiritual friendships
interlocked-hearts
...because two are better than one... [Ecclesiastes 4:9]

Navigating in today's culture is challenging and sometimes overwhelming. Women face unique pressures as they find themselves in so many diverse roles.

We need wisdom, help, encouragement and guidance.

Sunday March 21st we are offering a Mentoring Workshop, 10:30am in Room 214 for all women who want to understand the instruction in Titus 2, and hear how God can use us to be purposeful in our friendships. A spiritual friendship is guided by prayer, encouragement, and accountability.

Join us for this one hour of sharing by several of our women. You will come away inspired and encouraged.

On the journey together
...the blessings of spiritual friendships

"The purpose of journeying together in spiritual friendship and spiritual community ... is to listen to one another's desire for God, to nurture that desire in each other and to support one another in seeking a way of life that is consistent with that desire. Spiritual friendship is not for advice giving, problem solving and fixing.

Rather, it is to assist one another in paying attention to the movements of God in our lives through the spiritual disciplines and to support another in responding faithfully to God's presence."
