Happy New Year!

2010 has arrived and we wonder,
what will it bring?
We think of new hopes and the anticipation of a fresh start. There is an eagerness, despite the chill of early winter and after-holiday quietness from a pile of celebrations.

Perhaps the question should rather be,
 what will I bring?

The exchange of gifts is still fresh from gatherings with family and friends...perhaps you might share in  Christmas All Year Long, an encouragement for generousity of the heart.

Take a few moments to consider these
Questions for a New Year -- some thought provoking insights about how we spend our time, our expectations of God, and where we might put our energies in the new year.

We're not all oriented to write new years resolutions or to set lofty goals, but, we can challenge ourselves to new spiritual growth... growth and purpose for each new day we are blessed with.
Special gifts to give throughout the year...

To your enemy, forgiveness.girlfriends2
To an opponent, tolerance.
To the poor, generosity.
To your associates, integrity.
To all, charity.
To your neighbor, friendship.

To the burdened, help.
To your spouse, respect.
To a friend, your heart.
To our children, a godly example.
To God.... yourself."

Prayer for a New Year

Father,
Grant
that
I May...
Seek after God, like Josiah,
Give a good report, like Joshua,
Be great in faith, like Hezekiah,
Be faithful to the end, like Uriah,
Be diligent in business, like Lydia,
Extend tenacious love, like Hosea,
Study, interpret and lead, like Ezra,
Build to God's specifications, like Noah,
Catch God's vision and go, like Nehemiah,
Be committed, though curious, like Thomas,
Meet with God in the wee hours, like Nichodemus,
Be full of faith and power, like Barnabas,
Lead with love and patience, like Moses,
Be a giant of prayer, like Epaphras,
Serve my community, like Dorcas,

"This is what the Lord says, 'Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.'"  Isaiah 43:16, 18-19
