F r i e n d s h i p Our Spring Celebrations this week reminded us of those God has given us to join us on the journey. Friends and sisters in Christ, rubbing shoulders and sharing in the laughter, holding us up through tears, and mostly pointing us to God. This song from Watermark expresses this so well...
You've been more than a friend to me, You fight off my enemies. Because you've spoken Truth over my life and you'll never know what it means to me just to know you've been on your knees for me. Oh, you have blessed my life more than you'll ever know!

When April steps aside for May Like diamonds all the rain drops glisten; Fresh violets open every day, To some new bird each hour we listen.

Gifts Mom Gave Us
Mother's Day is next weekend. We all have reflections. This one is mine.
This winter we said goodbye to mom. On a cold February
night, we received the call that told us she was going home to eternity sooner
that we expected. Still walking through our grief from losing dad last
Christmas, this year had been hard and filled with difficult decisions.

Following dad's passing we had made the decision to move my mother here to West Chester. She was young, beautiful and strong... she carried
only the frailty of mind that Alzheimers had brought her to. Despite the shock of the sudden loss, we were thankful my mom's last months
were here, filled with
laughter and happiness for her.
In the long goodbye and quietness of her
illness, we found simple treasures. Her decline in Alzheimers brought her to a
peaceful state of innocent, childlike joy... and so we shared lots of music,
old movies, silly dances, and precious, endless, fiercely-tight child-like
hugs.
My mom married her childhood sweetheart and was by his side for
more than 50 years, so it seemed only appropriate that mom would be spending her
first moments in eternity on Valentines Day... with dad, worshipping together
the God they loved. It was my dad who brought my mother to The Lord when they
first met, sharing the ultimate perfect love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. And
while the grief of loosing them both is still fresh, I'm thankful to have had
the blessing of two amazing parents who gave my sisters and I the gifts of
faith, family and fabulous fun. I pray that we can extend their legacy to our
children.
Dad was such a big personality, always with unforgettabl e humor, playfulness
and so full of life.
Mom, reserved and refined, was as quiet and private in
personality as dad was exuberant and passionate. Mom always made her
presence known, but in a way that never really spoke... her presence was, most notably,
through her actions. When mom did speak, her words were simple, yet
significant and full of purpose.
To this day, my sisters and I can recite some of mom's most famous words, now priceless quotes of wisdom. We were three
girls growing up like little women, and mom taught us strictly, but well.
I am
reminded of the passage in Titus Chapter 2, "...the older women
should be reverent in the way they live... to teach what is good. Then they can
train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be
self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind... so that no one will malign the word of God."
My mother gave me so much. She was a proper woman of purpose. When I think
of all my memories, I think of three distinct things that she gave me, gifts
that only a mother can give. [Read more...]

S p i r i t t o S p i r i t. . . S e l a h H o l y H u s h
encouragement by Linda Slavin
"Stand in awe, and sin not: Commune
with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah" Psalm 4:4
PAUSE FOR A
MOMENT. What do you hear? Can you hear a pin drop? or is your mind
racing with a million thoughts all over the place.
Now listen with
your HEART. Can you hear Him? God speaks to us through our heart and as
we commit to him, and let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly our
thoughts become established. As we quiet ourselves on the inside and begin
listening to what our heart is saying the Holy Spirit will minister the
truth of Gods Word to us.
Lay your cares and worries aside FOR HIM. Pace
yourself with Him. Allow an overflowing heart to penetrate your mind with
understanding.
Experience that perfect peace that
only comes from Him. Selah.
