Prayer for a new day...
sunrise on snow

"I don't want to be the main character. I want my character to fade off the page until the only thing left is the magnificent Presence of the Author, Jesus Christ---my Savoir, Creator God of the universe and all  that dwells therein."

- prayer by Kathy Bley,
January 25, 2009

Dear Heavenly Father,
What a sweet thing to be awakened---on a new day--- by  the God of the universe! How many blessings have I missed by ignoring Your morning call over the years?

You are beginning a new page; indeed, You began it while I was sleeping! And now You say to me, " Come on! Look! See what I have begun and stay with Me now as I finish this page. Join Me in the adventure! I  know what happens but I want you to be with Me as it does. We can climb to the mountaintop together! We can stand together amazed at what lies before us! If we go down to the depths we will cry together and My comfort will be yours. I will help you over the bumps in the road, pick you up when you stumble, and bring you back when you run away. This is your story, written by Me, the "author and perfecter" of your faith. I know the beginning from the end. I know the end. And it is good!"

O, Lord, I am overwhelmed. I put my hand in Yours. Take me where You want me to go---today, and everyday. I am humbled. Even those chapters I find dull and boring, or that make me mad at the "main character"---me--- because I don't like what she's doing, are written by You, giving me free reign even though You are the One in control---all along making something beautiful of my life. I don't pretend to understand how this works, and all analogies fall short in one way or another. But I know that if anyone else is "reading my book"---looking at my life---I want each page to reflect You; and each chapter, even the hard ones, to glorify and honor You alone. Indeed, I don't want to be the main character. I want my character to fade off the page until the only thing left is the magnificent Presence of the Author, Jesus Christ---my Savoir, Creator God of the universe and all  that dwells therein. Praise Your Holy Name!!
Amen.

Wisdom for Marriage...
happy marriage
Over sixty of our women gathered last Wednesday evening on a cold winter night to be warmed by encouragement and wisdom for marriage. Six wise women made up our panel of inspiration.

We were blessed by their authenticity, openness, and transparent encouragement to us. Thank you Pat, Janet, Leah, Pat, Kathy, Lisa, Carol and Janet. We have been touched by your stories and challenged in our marriages!

"Let the older women be reverent in the way they live... to teach the younger to love their husbands and children, and to be pure and self controlled..."  Titus 2:3

Spirit to Spirit...Contentment
Encouragement by Linda Slavin

Hidden in your heart...Gentle and Quiet Spirit

"Do not let your adornment be merely outward-arranging the hair, wearing gold, or  putting on fine apparel-rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the  incorruptible beauty of a gentle quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God."  1 Peter 3:3-5

How do we fulfill and experience the quietness of spirit?
How are we sustained in the quietness of His Word?  By knowing our part.

When we have quietness of mind and heart we are made secure by being free      from all questions or challenges. We become calm, unmovable and strong. Free of turmoil and agitation, untroubled, Restful and soothed. Quietness such a wonderful state of being. A state that is precious in God's sight. Questioning the possibility of such a tranquility I would hear , " Let me do the rumbling, the earth shaking, the move of the mighty wind of the Spirit, that's not your part that's Mine."

How precious I can say He is to me in knowing the sustaining power of His Word.
The love of God so powerful. The faith in God knowing I am not asked to have faith
within myself or in myself, for even that He has given to me so freely. He is always so
ready to help us, we never have to wait for Him, just quiet ourselves and experience
the wonders of His great Love and be sustained in Him.

Psalm 55:22 "Cast your burden on the Lord and He shall sustain you;He shall
never permit the righteous to be moved."

Cast your care on Him and allow Him to shake Heaven and
Earth on your behalf!
