Spring has finally arrived...

Spring arrived at 1:16a.m. this morning, bringing the official launch of a season of renewal and growth, fresh energy and vibrant colors. This year, spring arrived in the middle of Holy Week... a time of humble reflection and worship, and ultimately celebration and joy.

In the breezes of early spring we stand at the foot of the cross. We stand at the foot of the cross and stand before God. The dust of the cross catches our eyes but the blood of the cross covers us... fully covers us. Our complete covering. Radical. Astonishing. Profound.

Come and join us as we worship and celebrate the joy and meaning of this Holy Week,

  • Maundy Thursday Service: On March 20 at 7:00pm; a traditional, choral-led service where we will remember the crucifixion of Jesus. Communion and congregational hymns will make this a wonderful time for quiet reflection and worship as we contemplate the cross.
  • Good Friday Service: Experience the passion of Jesus in a new way on March 21 at 7:00pm. Our contemporary band-led service will include communion, congregational worship, and other modern service elements to give us the opportunity to see the cross in a new way and respond to this amazing act of love.
  • Easter Sunday: Rejoice with us as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus on Sunday, March 23 at 7:30, 9:00, and 10:30am. Come be a part of the most joyous day of the year as we join together to give praise and glory to the One who defeated death and has offered us new life.

Six Hours One Friday [excerpt from Max Lucado]
It is no normal six hours... it is no normal Friday. God is on the cross. Far worse than the breaking of his body is the shredding of his heart. His own contrymen clamored for his death. His own disciple planted the kiss of betrayal. His own friends ran for cover. And now his own father is beginning to turn his back on him, leaving him alone.

A witness could not help but ask: Jesus, do you give no thought to saving yourself? What keeps you there? What holds you to the cross? Nails don't hold gods to trees. What makes you stay?

Those six hours were no normal six hours. They were the most critical hours in history. For during those six hours on that Friday, God embedded in the earth three anchor points sturdy to handle anything we might face in life: Our lives are not futile... Our failures are not fatal... Our death is not final. Three anchor points. The anchor of the cross.

Six hours one Friday.
What do you do with those six hours on that Friday?
