This month's program:
Speed Networking

Being prepared to introduce yourself and your business in short order

When you get the opportunity to quickly introduce yourself and your business to potential customers or clients throughout the day, do you have your 90-second "elevator speech" ready?  Can you tell someone in short order what you and your business are all about?

This month, we will help you learn the easiest way to get your name and occupation across to people as quickly and efficiently as possible with a fun exercise in which we'll all participate.

In a given day, the opportunity to let people know about you and what you offer comes and goes constantly.  Let us help you get comfortable with a quick introduction that will serve you wherever you may be.

So... a little homework.  For this meeting, please bring a 90-second speech about you and your business.  If you want to create it at the meeting, that's fine.  We'll have materials and people on-hand to help.  And please bring about 30 business cards.  We'll make sure you get those out to people in the room at this meeting.

It's one of the best ways to get your name out there during an easy and fun luncheon.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Membership Social
Thursday, August 19th
5:30-7:30 p.m.
Bambu
604 Coleman Boulevard

This will be a great Thursday for networking and fun.  Not only are we having a fun and beneficial exercise on networking at the luncheon meeting, but we will be holding a membership social the same afternoon.

If you are a member (or would like to join that evening), please join us for cocktails and appetizers at Bambu on Coleman Boulvard anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 pm.  Bambu has graciously agreed to extend happy hour prices during our gathering and will be providing appetizers for our group.

In addition, there will be live music on the covered patio by Henri Gates.

Come meet with other members in a relaxed atmosphere where you can network and socialize.  Feel free to come early, as some of us will be there by 5.  And feel free to stay later, as some of us will do that as well!

We hope you will join us for a fun time - no speeches, no agendas... just a chance to relax with fellow business professionals and enjoy some great drinks and food.

See you there!

Tidelands

Tidelands Bank, headquartered at 875 Lowcountry Boulevard, Mount Pleasant, SC, is a local bank focused on serving the individuals, families and small businesses of the Carolina coastal area.

We best serve the entrepreneurs and small business owners based on our extensive experience helping build businesses and creating custom banking solutions that work for those who need more than standard banking products and services.

We currently offer a full host of banking products and services for individuals and businesses. Each product or suite of products is customized to meet the needs of the customer whether that means an individual that needs a checking account with a high interest rate and a high yield money market account, a family that is interested in a low balance, free checking account, a Certificate of Deposit (CD) and a mortgage, or an entrepreneur who needs capital for their next venture.

Because we are a Coastal Carolina Bank and understand our business customers may travel as a part of their business to areas outside out foot print all our Debit Card can be used at any bank in the continental United States at No Charge. All you simply need to do is accept the charge from the competitors ATM machine, but you will never see it come out of your account. Many of our convenience products such as Desktop Deposit, where you can make your deposits right from your work computer, and ACH Services for Direct Deposit are offered with minimum requirement, far below the industry standard.

Envisioned in 2001 by our organizing directors, Tidelands raised 10.3 million dollars in start up capital, exceeding the 8.4 million dollar minimum required by state regulators. The outstanding success in raising capital demonstrated the community's strong interest and enthusiasm for a new local bank in the South Carolina lowcountry market.

The doors of our first branch, a 10,000 square foot building, opened in October 2003. We are currently a seven branch bank with locations all along the South Carolina coast. We have local decision making authority that ensures we can provide answers based on an understanding of the community and the customer. We take great pride in providing customers with the necessary products and services to meet their needs. We have remained, and will remain, committed to the community where we live and work. It's our community too!

Our success is measured not in the number of accounts we open but in the relationships we build.

FacebookFor those of you who have become involved with the hottest social network out there - Facebook - you can now join the MPBPA Facebook group. We intend to develop this as an adjunct to our website as a method to share information and communicate with one another.

Because it has been asked, be aware that joining our Facebook group does not automatically make other MPBPA Facebook members your friends. It's simply a way to keep up with the MPBPA.

Please join our Facebook group to network, stay informed and further extend the wonderful connections you've made at the meetings. Click the link below to go to our new page and contribute:

New/Returning Member Profiles

Are you interested in talking about what you do for a living to a group of 100 or so highly-motivated, entrepreneurial, forward-thinking business professionals? Are you blessed with the oratorical skills to state your case in a reasonably succinct manner, bravely fighting the urge to ramble or otherwise cloud your meaningful message? Can you explain everything anyone would ever want to know about you and your business in a minute-and-a-half? Are you a member of the Mount Pleasant Business and Professional Association?

If your answer to even one of these questions, including the last one, is yes, you are a prime candidate to make your "new member" or "returning member" presentation at an MPBPA meeting this year. You'll have 90 seconds to network with every influential business professional in the room.

We're booked through our March meeting, and a few slots already have been filled for the rest of the year. Please call, write or confront me at the next MPBPA meeting if you are interested in taking advantage of this great opportunity to market your business.
