Greetings!
Greetings and thank you for taking a moment to check out all the Miner Works of Art news!
It's hard to believe, but summer is behind us and the holidays are sneaking up on us as we ponder warmer days. For me, Halloween (the day before my birthday), is the start of all that is Winter and I love it. Time for cozy sweaters, hot tea, rain on the rooftop, celebrations with family, and occasionally we actually get cold weather here in L.A.! That takes me back to memories of my hometown - Seattle, Washington.
As we enter this new season and mood I'd like to share a special occasion and introduce a friend and author, Susan Pohlman. Susan and Tim Pohlman are friends to jazz fans everywhere and have a special story to tell. Please check out the invitation below and come join us for brunch next Sunday.
I am especially proud of my connection to and friendship with The California Wine Club. We have just released the 20th Anniversary California Wine Club Calendar. I was honored to be asked to create the art for this very prestigious calendar and I must admit that I went a little "wine" crazy. There are dozens of new pieces in the collection now - too many to be included in a 13 month calendar. So, many of the pieces have been released as limited edition, signed and numbered Giclees on paper and canvas. You can see many of the pieces on my (new) website.
Please read all the way to the end of this newsletter for information and my special request for your vote for Milo's Sanctuary. It would mean so much!
Until we meet again....
Warmest regards,
Bettie Grace Miner

"Halfway to Each Other" |
THE TRUE STORY OF A CALIFORNIA COUPLE ON
THE BRINK OF SEPARATION WHO UNEXPECTEDLY FIND LOVE AGAIN ON THE ITALIAN
RIVIERA.
"What began as a series of soul
baring emails to close friends has found its way into the hands of Guideposts
Books ... Halfway to Each Other
has been a labor of love for us and we are very excited to finally be able to
share it with you."
This is the remarkable story of an ordinary American family that inspires and
offers hope that all of us who find the courage to listen to our hearts and
follow our dreams can experience a new beginning.
As a tribute to Susan & Tim Pohlman, Bettie Grace Miner did a painting of the "Halfway to Each Other" book cover. You can see this painting, and Susan's portrait, on display at Spaghettini's during the book signing & reading on Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Bettie will be in attendance so be sure to say hello if you'll be there!

Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival Wrap-Up |

"Via Casino Jazz" (2009) "Catalina Jazz" (2008)
The 23rd Annual Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival was a true experience in a style only Art Good can produce!
Bettie met so many new people and had the wonderful opportunity to see old friends, too. The new art release "Via Casino Jazz" - a tribute to the enduring festival and Catalina Island - by Bettie Grace Miner was a huge hit and there are just a few prints left in the edition. If you missed out, get in touch to reserve a print (if it's not sold out).
Bettie would like to thank Art Good and JazzTrax for once again welcoming her to be a part of this fantastic annual event. The artist line-up was amazing with every show greeted by enthusiastic fans. The weather was unbelievably perfect - a glorious 'end of summer' farewell.
"I hope to see you all on the Island next year!" Bettie Grace Miner

Vote for Milo's Sanctuary! |
"Fionna" ~ Photography by Bettie Grace Miner
Milo's Sanctuary is near and dear to Bettie's heart. This very special and important charity rescues and cares for special needs kitties.
An urgent request by Bettie Grace Miner - help the kitties. It won't cost you a dime - just a moment of your time to VOTE for Milo's Sanctuary. Below is the information and a plea from founder, Michele Hoffman:
YOU TOO CAN HELP THE SPECIAL NEEDS KITTIES!! PLEASE, PLEASE,
PLEASE register and vote for Milo's Sanctuary in Rachael Ray's Mutt Madness
contest. You can vote once a week. The winner gets a large donation for their
nonprofit organization.
Please vote for Milo's at http://www.rachaelray.com/pets/muttmadness/index.php
Fionna, pictured above, was recently rescued by ... who else ... Bettie Grace Miner. That makes three now. Bettie adopted Mindi and Pita from Milo's Sanctuary. Both had been abandoned and were best friends, clinging to each other and never letting the other out of their sight. Fionna was found starving and living in the basement garage of Bettie's downtown L.A. loft. She was not even five pounds, but was a true survivor. Before Bettie could get the trapped cat to Michele's sanctuary for adoption, Fionna adopted Bettie. She's now a very happy and healthy family member (Mindi & Pita are not so sure, yet).
It can be tough to adopt an abandoned pet, or even to help with a donation to those wonderful angels who care for them, but it's easy to VOTE and support them with a grant they need and deserve. There are other ways that you can help, without giving up the cash that we are all so short on these days. Please visit the Milo's Sanctuary website for more information.
Please help us help them! Thanks!!!
