  • Greetings!

Greetings from Sunny Southern California! The summer is just buzzing by and I wanted to take a moment to catch up and share some news and fun stuff that's coming up.

After a lot of work and anticipation the new "Miner Works of Art" website is ready and on the web! There is a portfolio of portraits, with both painting and photography galleries. You'll find new fine art collections featuring wine art, home decor, music inspired art, album & event artwork and much more to check out. If you have a moment, please go to the website, look around a little and leave me a note in my new guest book.

Although we're still sizzling, preparations are underway for lots of events and shows this fall. As you take a look at the events below, you'll notice a theme: Charity. We are all encountering some tough times right now, and charities have taken a big hit. There are a few that I love and work with as much as I am able to do so. I hope you'll check them out.

Please stay in touch and let me know if I'll be seeing you at an event this summer. I hope to hear from you or see you soon. Until then...

    With warm regards,

    Bettie Grace Miner

Since there hasn't been a newsletter all summer, here's some news to let you know what's been happening and what Bettie has been up to...

Jazz FM 88.5 ~ KSBR Birthday Bash May 2009

If you have ever attended the KSBR Birthday Bash, you know what a real jam session is. This isn't your Father's jazz festival, it's the Grand Daddy of them all!

KSBR is a college run (not for profit) radio station in Mission Viejo, California. Every year their biggest event, The Birthday Bash, is their best opportunity to raise funds and keep the music playing. Even if you're not a local, you can live stream the station from their website. The play list is not cookie cutter or determined by some big conglomerate. It's what YOU want to hear. So if you're "listening" why not reach out and help a little? Or as my friend Gerri said: "We're all trying to build a fire out of rocks." Somehow, KSBR is keeping that fire burning hot, but they could use your help!

This year at the Bash, we were joined by Peter White, Patti Austin, Chieli Minucci, Boney James, Greg Adams and too many more incredible artists to name them all.

For the first time, a compilation CD from artists that have played at the Bash is available from KSBR (Cover art by Bettie Miner and Tony Guerrero). Get in touch with KSBR to get yours before they're all gone!

Spaghettini Grill & Jazz Club Honors the Life of Wayman Tisdale

In June, Spaghettini and 94.7 The Wave went all out to celebrate the life and music of the big man, Wayman Tisdale. With Brian McKnight and Pat Prescott waking everyone up at the crack of dawn (6:00 AM) Spaghettini hosted breakfast to a full house while legendary musicians and friends of Wayman Tisdale paid tribute to a very lively crowd.

With the larger than life three-piece (triptych) portrait of Wayman on the stage, it felt as though he was right there with us.

Two of the biggest talents in the business, Dave Koz and Eric Marienthal, were there playing their great big hearts out. In case you don't know this, Eric Marienthal hosts a star-studded event every year to benefit High Hopes, a head injury program. And Dave Koz just introduced a collection of fine wines (available at So Cal Whole Foods Markets), with all of the proceeds going to The Starlight Children's Foundation.

"A Bridge to Hope" Artwork by Bettie Grace Miner

Lazarex Cancer Foundation presents: A Bridge to Hope. A festival of music, gourmet food and the arts at Fort Mason's Great Meadow in San Francisco, CA September 26, 2009

The artwork is a collage of San Francisco landmarks combined with the spirit and character of the people behind Lazarex Cancer Foundation. This very unique and important organization is the last hope for many battling cancer. When they have nowhere else to turn, Lazarex is there providing the funds for treatment not otherwise available.

"There isn't any one of us that hasn't been touched by cancer. My father, a survivor of throat cancer, twice, was an inspiring factor in this piece of art. My sister, a marathon runner, is the runner in this piece. As always, there are lots of hidden messages and images in the art." Bettie Miner

If you are in San Francisco between now and September 26, 2009, check out the bus shelters and the buses for this art. And be sure to pick up a poster, or a T-Shirt, or a CD with the art at the event.

An original gallery-wrap framed canvas print, 55" x 37", valued at $5,000.00 will be auctioned to benefit A Bridge to Hope.

Smooth Jazz Favorites: Brian McKnight, Gerald Albright and Kirk Whalum are among the musical guests.

Bettie Grace Miner will be in attendance to support "A Bridge to Hope" at Fort Mason's Great Meadow in San Francisco, California.
