Greetings! Spring is here and it's my favorite season. Though Spring is always very short here in sunny Southern California, new art is popping up everywhere every day like Spring flowers. This weekend celebrates the 5th annual Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards and I am fortunate to have been invited to attend. In fact, I was commissioned to create the actual awards that will be presented to the recipients of those awards. This is very exciting and a huge honor for me. There's news from abroad, too! Kaya Gallery now represents my art in the U.K. So, if you're in the neighborhood, please be sure to drop in and say hello to gallery owner, Norman Holmes, and see all of his cool art. In February I joined lots of smooth jazz friends (artists and fans) on the Smooth Music Cruise. It was a blast and I got lots of fun snapshots which I'm sharing with you below. In my last newsletter I mentioned that a new website for Miner Works of Art was being crafted. Like any work of art, these things sometimes take longer than expected but any day now you'll be able to see lots of new art, information on exhibits, events and more. Stay tuned! And if it's OK, I'll send out a quick blast to let you know when it's up. Please check it out when you have a few minutes and let me know what you think. With warm regards, Bettie Grace Miner ![]() Photo by Randy Galligan

Bettie Grace Miner congratulates all the nominees and celebrates their musical achievements, talent and the ability to create joy in the lives of others with their music. Since the late 1970's, Bettie has been a huge fan of guitarist Earl Klugh, the 2009 recipient of the George Benson Lifetime Achievement Award. Now a friend and inspiration, Bettie is particularly thrilled and proud to have been given the honor of creating art that acknowledges such amazing talent.

Are you familiar with Fusion Flavours? A great friend of smooth jazz, Steve Quirk, is the voice of jazz in the U.K. He introduced me to Kaya Gallery in England and I'm now proud to announce that my jazz art has a home across the pond! The art will be debuted in conjunction with The Barbican International Jazz & Blues Festival in Plymouth, Devon, UK from May 1-10, 2009.
Smooth Music Cruise ~ February 2009 Cruising the Bahamas with jazz artists and friends is a terrific way to combine a jazz festival and a vacation. The poster commemorating the event was a big hit and we all had fun during one huge autograph session getting everyone to sign the poster, take photos and enjoy getting to know everyone (and I do mean everyone) on board. Dinner and a show with Mindi Abair and Chieli Minucci takes on a whole new meaning when you're dining with your favorite jazz artists and then get to watch their shows for dessert.

"If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him. We must never forget that art is not a form of propaganda; it is a form of truth." ~ John F. Kennedy
