Greetings!
Greetings! Now that Winter has almost passed us by and Spring is in the air (at least here on the west coast), there are new adventures on the horizon. You may be wondering why there are smoking wheels behind me in this photo instead of a jazz festival or cruise ... read on for an exciting explanation (below) for all that smoke!
I would also like to share a story with you about a "Cat Lady" and her "Pride" that I adore...please take a minute to check it out.
My personal best wishes and congratulations go out to all the wonderful musicians at the Smooth Jazz Awards in Canada tonight. Good luck and know that you are all winners!
There is a lot to share with you in this newsletter, so with that in mind... Ladies: Start Your Engines! And P.S. to all the guys - no cracks about women drivers, please.
With warmest regards,
Bettie Grace Miner

Trac ChicWomen Behind Wheels
Did you know that Bettie is a huge race fan? Drag racing is a particular favorite and Bettie likes to photograph the cars as they get ready to race. This love of all things that go fast (and loud) has connected Bettie with Trac Chic ~ A new company by women for women. Apparel for Trac Chics is now available with Bettie's motorsports artwork. An article "Women Behind The Wheels" featuring Bettie's racing art story and this Trac Chic collaboration can be found at Trac Chic. And if you want to see more, there's a sneak peak at Motor Sports Imagery or just drop Bettie a note for more information. In support of Bettie's charity work, Trac Chic will donate a portion of all sales to Milo's Sanctuary. Please see more below... Click here for more Trac Chic Info

Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty...
With Spring on the horizon, new life can't be far behind. It's a
wonderful thing, but it can be pretty challenging for some of Mother Nature's
furry creatures. If you have ever been to my studio, you know about
the two "studio cats"
in residence. Pita and Mindi (pictured here) were adopted from an
incredible caretaker and I'd like to share her with you.
Michele Hoffman, the force behind Milo's Sanctuary, is an angel ~ and
I don't use that label lightly ~ who rescues, fosters and places cats
and kittens that others would give up on. She started rescuing animals when she was just seven years old, bringing home any animal that needed help. Eleven years ago she started her own cat rescue and quit her job to go to veterinary tech school. That education came in handy with the rescue of over 135 cats and kittens in just the past year, including three blind cats, two deaf cats, and three physically disabled cats.
Milo's Sanctuary, Inc., was founded on the belief that all cats deserve a second chance at life. Their dream is to someday have a sanctuary where unwanted cats will have a safe home to spend the rest of their lives.

Milo's Sanctuary
For ways you can help, including adoptions, donations of supplies or much needed funds, volunteering and more, please go to the website or contact Michele at paddypaws@sbcglobal.net and check out: Milo's Donation Wish ListPictured above are Michele Hoffman with just a few of the cats and kittens she has rescued. Some are available for adoption. Her cats have gone on to be a blessing to others, including one whose vocation is visiting the sick and elderly. Another was trained for movies and TV. In addition to donations from Trac Chic for Bettie's race apparel sales, a portion of sales for orders on the Miner Works of Art website during Spring 2008 will be donated to Milo's Santuary. Please mention "Milo" on your order.

Althea Rene
This month's featured "Jazz" portrait is the lovely and amazingly talented Miss Althea Rene. I was so fortunate to bring Althea into my studio to create this very hot portrait. Althea was rocking the boat on the recent All Star Smooth Cruise and you may have seen her at Omega Event's JazzFest West (Pasadena Jazz Fest). I would never have believed that a flautist could make you want to dance, but if you've seen her, you know she does! Althea Rene fans can purchase this matted fine art print or limited edition canvas giclee at: Miner Works of Art

Featured Portrait
A little quiz: Is this Michele Hoffman with her husband, Randy, or just another cat happy client?
