  • Greetings!

Southern California is definitely the place to be in late October, especially if you like jazz!

I'm on Catalina Island this weekend, for the third weekend in a row - and it looks like summer. It's going to be in the 80's, I'm sailing on a boat to Catalina (probably as you read this) watching the dolphins play along side the boat, and I'm looking forward to another spectacular weekend of jazz, sunshine and friends! Living in Paradise!

It's been so great seeing old friends and meeting new ones on the Island this month and I'm hoping to see you there this weekend.

If not there, how about Florida?!!! I'll be going from Coast to Coast this month - check out Jazz on the Green in Estero (Fort Myers/Naples), Florida. I've been going to Jazz on the Green for the past seven years and I'm really looking forward to seeing all my dear friends there. It's a "Jazz Attack" from Coast to Coast!

I'll see you there ~ until then.

    Warm regards,

    Bettie Miner 9-06

    "Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival"

The First Three Weekends in October ~ Catalina Island, California

This is the 21st Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival - celebrating two decades of jazz.

If you've missed it, I really hope you'll join me for this last weekend of jazz on Catalina Island.

It's been a party at my art show on Catalina. Lots of friends have dropped by to check out all the art - friends like Nick Colionne, Steve Oliver, Candy Dulfer, Peter White, Rick Braun, Richard Elliot and lots more - I'll be showing you some fun photos in my next newsletter.

The poster for Catalina has been a big hit. There has been speculation and guesses about some of the more interesting details. Even Art Good made a guess about those trumpet palm trees - well it's time to reveal the truth! The trumpets actually belong to Greg Adams. Trivia: It is a Monette Ajna II B-Flat Trumpet. And it's 24K gold platted! No one else has one like it.

For more fun facts and lots of new "jazz" art, please look for me in the Casino on Catalina Island this weekend.

Just in case you can't make it, listen for an interview on KSBR at 11 AM with Gary Bergeson, broadcast live from the Casino on Catalina Island. Gary always has fun with me, so I hope you'll listen!
