Greetings! It's been so busy lately that I haven't had a chance to catch up with you at all this month. There's so much to share that I'm going to break it down into three (shorter) newsletters over the next few weeks. A new season is almost upon us, bringing with it some wonderful art and music events. There are some amazing festivals coming up and I'm proud to have been given the opportunity to create art and to be a part of the festivities. Over the next month I will be traveling coast to coast celebrating children's charities, jazz festivals and art shows that have invited me to create art for their concerts. So this will be the first of three consecutive newsletters unveiling the commemorative artwork for these very special affairs. If you are in the area of these concerts and art shows, please join me - come say hello! I'll be there meeting people, signing posters and checking out some great music. I'll see you there ~ until then. Warm regards, ![]() Bettie Grace Miner
"Let the Children Play" Saturday, September 29, 2007 ~ San Jose, California Let The Children Play Music Festival is a benefit concert for two amazing organizations that focus on supporting children all over the world; Feed The Children and The Milagro Foundation. In Celebration of the Let the Children Play Music Festival, Bettie Grace Miner created an original work of art to honor the spirit of music, children, and the angels in us all that care for the children of the world. Rather than a poster to raise funds for these children's charities, a very small edition of Limited Edition prints were created. Sixty large fine art prints (18"x24") of "MUSIC ANGEL" are hand signed and numbered by the artist. Many of the prints were sold before they were released. If you would like one from this very small collection, please contact Let the Children Play Music Festival before they are completely sold out. Proceeds from sales will be donated to Deborah and Carlos Santana Milagro Foundation. Feed The Children is an international, non-profit relief organization that delivers food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty or natural disaster. Over the past 26 years, Feed The Children has created and developed one of the world's largest private organizations dedicated to feeding hungry people in all 50 states and in 62 foreign countries. The Milagro Foundation was started in 1998 by Deborah and Carlos Santana to benefit underrepresented and underprivileged children around the world. Milagro serves children in the areas of health, education and the arts. Between October 1998 and November 2005, The Milagro Foundation has supported children in 33 states and 30 countries by granting nearly 2 million dollars to 279 agencies working with children and youth. The Power of Music, bringing people together as one.
JazzTrax will have a new addition to the fun this year - an art show! Bettie Grace Miner will have a gallery style art show on display in the Casino on Catalina Island during the festival over the first three weekends of October. There will be large canvas pieces on display and lots of new art of your favorite jazz stars. You'll find Bettie in the Marine Bar on the Mezzanine level of the Casino. Stayed tuned next week for a sneak preview of the Commemorative Artwork that Bettie created to celebrate two decades of jazz for the Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival. There is a fun addition to the artwork that wasn't in the original design ~ You'll hear all about it next week! Stop by the art exhibit with your copy of the poster and Bettie will sign it for you! In the third newsletter installment some new and very different artwork created for Jazz on the Green will be unveiled. For all of you who have been asking ~ Yes, there is some exciting news coming in connection with the 2008 All Star Smooth Cruise and Festival.
Meet Katya! This pre-schooler from Austin, Texas is one of my biggest and youngest fans. Her parents, Stefan & Jean Sarre have been supporting Miss Katya's jazz (and art) habit and filled up her room (and their house) with jazz art. Pictured here with "Blue Guitar" and "Jazz Trio" ~ Katya told her father: "Daddy, Miss Bettie's art makes me happy." What more could an artist hope for?! P.S. To the Sarre Family: Congratulations on the birth of your twin sons, Nikolas and Alex.
