  • Greetings!

It's been a busy and art filled summer. I have been fortunate to find so many ways to create and share new art. It's also been great to hear from so many friends in support of my ventures (or adventures) in art!

This newsletter is jam packed with news and events that I want to share with you, so I'll be brief. But I just wanted to say Thanks! Thanks for your notes, votes, support and heartfelt thoughts.

Please check out all the news about new exhibits, new art releases, CD's, Posters, Jazz Festivals, Children's charity events and much more below.

I hope to see you at one of the upcoming events and as always, I look forward to hearing from you personally.

P.S. Just to let you know - I recently had some problems with my email and lost quite a lot of mail. So, if you wrote to me and I didn't answer, please forgive me and write again. I think (and hope) it's all good now!

Wine & Jazz, Spaghettini's, and Nick Colionne!
    Nick with BB

Wine & Jazz and Spaghettini Grill & Jazz Club got together to bring the amazing and very hot guitarist to Seal Beach for a Sunday Brunch show very recently. I had a chance to surprise Nick Colionne with his portrait on canvas. It was on display during Nick's appearance in Seal Beach, California.

This art edition on canvas of Nick Colionne is part of a very limited edition series of 50 pieces. It is a giclee on canvas, hand embellished with acrylics, signed and numbered. The number 1 of 50 pieces is on display at the Abbozzo Gallery in Canada during "Jazz on the Walls" and is autographed by Nick Colionne.

Wine & Jazz presented the July Wine & Jazz experience with Nick Colionne (check out the package on their web site), so it was a pretty fun day had by all. For lots more information about Nick Colionne, go to www.NickColionne.com.

Greg Adams ~ New Art & Free Download
    Greg Adams 5 to 11

Greg Adams ~ "Five to Eleven"

The very hip and soulful trumpeter, Greg Adams, sent me his latest single, which had me doing a funky little dance all over my studio. After listening to the single at least five to eleven times, I just had to capture the vibe of this completely cool sound in an art piece.

The fine art portrait of Greg Adams is available as a matted art print. It's so new that it's not on the website yet, but you can inquire via email if you would like to add this art to your collection.

This art will be the cover of Greg's newest, soon to be released CD.

In the meantime, you can download the single for FREE. Check it out from our good friends at www.WineandJazz.com.

    Commissioned Portraiture
    BK Jackson

This portrait of up & coming Saxophonist, BK Jackson, was commissioned by a friend of the talented young musician who is, by all accounts, tearing it up in the State of Florida.

At his surprise 16th Birthday party, the portrait of BK was presented to his Mother by friends Carl & Melody Harness. A bigger surprise was when another friend a fellow musician from Florida, Eric Darius, stopped by the show unannounced to jam on a few songs with BK.

    BK with Family

The portrait of BK was created as a painting from a photograph taken during a live performance of BK by photographer Carl Harness. It was then painted by Bettie Grace Miner as a private commission.

For more information and samples of private commission pieces, please visit the website and check out the "Portrait Gallery".

    Naked Guitar ~ Update
    Naked Guitar - Cropped

I received so much mail and incredible comments about this piece, and the "Nude" art competition, that I'd like to respond and share the results with you.

This was an interesting learning experience, especially in the ways of understanding contest rules. The good news is that "Naked Guitar" ranked the highest of all the images in the contest. This means that it finished in First place. But, due to the strange way the votes were tabulated, the piece did not win the competition. I feel a bit like Al Gore. But as they say "There's always next time." Thanks again to all who wrote and shared their thoughts.

"Naked Guitar" is available as a limited edition giclee on paper or canvas. For inquiries, please contact Bettie@MinerWorksofArt.com

    Habitat For The Humanities

Just to let you know, I will be joining a group of incredible women (yes, women) in a week-long building project here in Los Angeles for Habitat for Humanity during the week of October 28, 2007.

There are many ways that you can help, if you'd like to join us!

My personal goal is to create and donate art for each of the 80 homes being built. To do this, I must find a sponsor to help with the costs. If you have any ideas or thoughts to share in this regard, please contact me directly.

    More news will follow soon.
