Greetings! Special recognition comes along so rarely in life that when it does it's fun to share the news. I am honored and was truly surprised to receive notice that three of my music art collages, created for jazz festivals, were chosen as winners from hundreds of entries worldwide to be a part of The 9th Annual International Collage Art Exhibition. The art pieces from the exhibit are available as limited edition, signed and numbered giclees on canvas. The "9th Annual International Collage Art Exhibit" will be on exhibit for one year and featured on the Upstream People Gallery website for the month of June 2007. There is some very exciting and interesting award winning art to see in the group exhibit. I really enjoyed seeing it and am privileged to be included with such amazing artists. Thank you for taking a look and for your warm and continued support. Best wishes! ![]() Bettie Grace Miner

"Hot Jazz" is a collage created for the 2006 "Jazz on the Green" Jazz Festival. The art collage depicts a jazz trio amidst a very hot jazz jam and features Stan Sargeant on stand-up bass, Brian Culbertson on keys and Eric Darius on Sax. Both Brian and Eric have headlined at Jazz on the Green in Fort Myers, Florida. Bettie Grace Miner has been creating and donating the art for Jazz on the Green for the past six years, a charity which raises funds for The Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida.
"Jazz All Stars" also known as "Brian's Dream" is a collage that took 37 photographs and seven months of photo sessions and painting to create. Created for Brian Culbertson's All Star Cruise, 2007, the collage was intricately designed as a trivia contest. Take a look ~ there are 13 instances of Brian within the collage - some are easy to find, some not so easy! In addition to over twenty of the top musicians in contemporary jazz, there are lots of secrets and little surprises throughout the collage that only a seasoned "smooth jazz" fan could figure out.
"Jazz Combo" is one of those bitter-sweet stories that we all have and love to tell ....eventually. I was very excited to be commissioned to create the commemorative artwork for this year's Capital Jazz Festival. As you read this, the Jazz Festival is in progress, but you won't be seeing the artwork there. I was feeling pretty low about that ... at least until I received this award notice. Greg Adams and Richard Smith lent me the use of their instruments to create the art and an entire series on the theme was created. But, in the end it was a no-go ... the art apparently rejected. Everyone else who saw the art loved it. So, to see if my friends were right or just being friends, I entered the piece into "The International Collage Art Competition" and guess what? IT WON!!! So it's true...he (or she) who laughs last..... and all that jazz. P.S. Here is a link of the art series in this theme. If you're interested in any of the pieces please let me know. They are available as 20"x27" fine art prints on paper or canvas.
