|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Greetings! It's Spring and the fever has hit me hard! With new art being born all around us I was inspired to reinvent the art that has been stirring around inside of me. In the town where if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Art Expo in New York City, and was so moved by all the creativity that I am proud to announce that Miner Works of Art is now officially an Art Publisher! New works, including an entirely new series of abstract jazz art and fine art pieces will be released in the very near future. The art will be offered as "Giclees" ~ fine art prints, as large as 40" x 60" on canvas, limited edition, hand embellished, signed and numbered, available direct from Miner Works of Art. Announcements will be sent out as new pieces are released and available. If you would like additional information, please drop me a line or sign up for the newsletter. ![]() Bettie Grace Miner
Thanks to Charlie & Hanny Maier for showing me around NYC and taking the fun Times Square photo. While I was in New York, I had the cool chance to visit Chieli Minucci's recording studio which, coincidentally, was just around the corner from my hotel. Congratulations to Chieli Minucci for his Emmy nomination and for his brand new release of "Sweet Surrender" hitting Billboard's Contemporary Jazz charts at #14.
Bettie Grace Miner was chosen to create commemorative artwork for The Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards. The Smooth Jazz Awards gala will be held in Toronto-Hamilton, Canada on April 27, 2007. Posters, which also feature artwork of Spyro Gyra, will be available from 94.7 The Wave, Ontario on their website and during the awards weekend. Bettie will be part of the festivities with an exhibit of jazz art celebrating nominees & performers Nick Colionne, Maysa, Brian Culbertson, Warren Hill and the lifetime achievement award winners, Spyro Gyra. The artwork created for the awards ceremony is the first release of Miner Works of Art's new publishing company. It is available as a 40" x 50" signed and numbered limited edition giclee. The first giclee will be on exhibit during the awards. Details for the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards can be found on the Wave's Website.
Michael Paulo presents the second annual Temecula Wine and Music Festival on April 28-29, 2007. Bettie wanted so much to be there for this wonderful event, which benefits The Shriner's Hospital for Children. However, since she will be in Canada for the Smooth Jazz Awards on the same dates, Bettie has donated fine art prints of many of the smooth jazz stars that are performing at the festival. You can find these autographed prints available at auction with the proceeds benefiting the children's hospital. Please check out the website for a listing of all the performers and wonderful activities for the Temecula Wine & Music Festival. And if you see Michael, give him a big hug from Bettie!
Wine & Jazz autograph session with Michael Lington at Rodney Strong Vineyards Some of Bettie's favorite people are getting together at The Rodney Strong Vineyards in Santa Rosa, California on Sunday, April 15, 2007. Wine & Jazz presents a special autograph session with Michael Lington. Michael will be there to celebrate the latest Wine and Jazz package which features Michael Lington's "A Song For You" and two Michael Lington Classic cigars, as well as Rodney Strong's 2003 Alexander's Crown Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and 2004 Estate Knotty Vines Zinfandel. Michael is also available to autograph Fine Art Prints by Bettie Grace Miner to add to your collection. For complete event information, go to Michael's website or visit www.wineandjazz.com.
Greg Adams, an amazing trumpeter and arranger, is featured in Smooth Jazz News, April 2007, written by Jonathan Widran and illustrated with photos by Bettie Grace Miner. Congratulations my dear friend. Check out Greg's new release "Cool to the Touch" and see Greg at the Temecula Wine & Music Festival. For a fun slide show of Bettie's photographs of Greg (which are included in the CD package), check out Greg's website!
The Sarre Family ~ Stefan, Jean & Katya ~ are one of my favorite families and avid collectors of my jazz artwork. Very recently we had the opportunity to do some photos together, which I then used to create the commissioned portrait displayed here. A very fun fact about this photo: Jean (the Mom) was pregnant with twins at the time this was created, but didn't know it yet. So, I was blessed with creating their very first family photo with the new babies. When the twins come into the world, I hope to create a new piece that actually shows all the babies. I am able to accept a few family portrait commissions a year. If you are interested in creating a fine art portrait in this impressionist style, please contact me directly. Information about commissions is on the website in the "Portrait Gallery" ~ look under Commissions.
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children is a charity that I have supported for many years. Pat Prescott from 94.7 The Wave in Los Angeles asked me to help spread the news about a very special event that CASA is doing. We want to make sure all you ladies know about it so that if you can help, you will. On April 22-23, 2007, CASA of Los Angeles will host this private event where hundreds of high school girls in foster care in LA County are given a free prom gown, courtesy of generous donations from individuals and companies. Kappa Alpha Theta volunteers, along with celebrity participants help each girl find the perfect gown and accessories! If you can donate a prom dress or would like to make a donation to help these young girls feel special on a very special night of their lives, please contact CASA to see how you can help.
We say a sweet goodbye to Ulpio Minucci, 1917-2007, concert pianist and composer. I had the honor of photographing Ulpio Minucci with his wife Catherine and son Chieli Minucci for a very fun portrait last Christmas. Since that time we had all become such good friends. His career and life were impressive and obviously very happy. Please read the wonderful tribute to Ulpio on Smooth Vibes, March 19, 2007.
