Saturday, November 18, 2006 ~ The Muir Fine Art Gallery ~ West Houston, Texas Muir Fine Art Gallery announces representation of Bettie Grace Miner. The focus is definitely on Jazz! Muir Fine Art Gallery is known world wide for incredible Jazz Art. Naturally, the collaboration between Bettie Miner & Muir Fine Art Gallery is a great combination. Bettie Miner will be in West Houston for opening night. There will be live jazz, wine & cheese, suprise jazz guests, and of course ~ lots of art! Want to win Free All Star Cruise Jazz Festival Tickets? Attend Opening Night at Muir Fine Art Gallery where a special jazz guest will draw five winning names, each winning a pair of tickets to the All Star Jazz Festival featuring George Benson on January 27, 2007 in Galveston, Texas.
In addition to jazz, Muir Fine Art Gallery will show Bettie's classic side with a number of fine art pieces, many available as Limited Edition Canvas Giclees. This floral, appropriately named "Chieli's Flowers" has a story to tell. Chieli Minucci visited the Miner Works of Art studio once again very recently and brought with him his parents, Catherine and Ulpio Minucci. The proverbial apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and the Minucci family proves this to be true. Ulpio Minucci is a concert pianist and composer. He worked with legends such as Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams and Chicago! I was blessed with the wonderful opportunity of photographing Catherine & Ulpio (see below) and I can tell you that Ulpio still has the mojo going! ...But back to the story about these flowers.... Chieli (ever the gentleman) sent these to me as a thank you for this wonderful photo session. Naturally, when an artist gets something beautiful in their hands, we absolutely must make art out of it. "Chieli's Flowers" is available as a 16x20 canvas Giclee' through Muir Fine Art Gallery.
Catherine & Ulpio Minucci are featured here in a portrait that shows the love they have for each other and the playful laughter they share with each other and those around them, every day. Bettie's great love is creating fine art portraits. However, at present, there is a bit of a waiting list, but if you're interested in creating your own portrait with Bettie - send a note and she'll work it out with you.
"Maysa" will knock you out - and I don't just mean this portrait! Move over Patti (both of them), Aretha (sorry, you know how much I love you) and just about anyone else you can think of. Miss Maysa rocked the house at Jazz on the Green last month and will be a featured performer on the All Star Cruise coming up next January. This portrait of Maysa is entitled "Dream" and it is available as a fine art matted print. Coming next month (or maybe sooner) is a new portrait of Gerald Veasley. Just wait until you see this hot bassist! (Note to Gerald: It's almost finished, really - I swear.) Please contact Bettie for more information on available art prints.
Steve Oliver is an incredible jazz guitarist and vocalist. I was fortunate to be chosen to create the artwork for Steve's Christmas CD "Snowfall" which includes my absolute most favorite rendition of "Carol of the Bells" ever! A little confession - I listen to it year round, it's so great. "Snowfall" was previously only available through Steve Oliver's website. But that has all changed since Steve was signed by Koch Records! "Following the very strong radio reception the album received as a self produced and released collection, Steve somewhat reluctantly gave into requests from his label that he allow them the opportunity to circulate the record with a broader approach throughout the US and Canada......although the artist will continue to offer the music as a download or mail order option directly through his website www.steveolivermusic.com, Koch Records will now distribute and make the record available at normal brick n' mortar retail outlets throughout North America."
Custom Fine Art Christmas Cards! There have been many requests over the years for Christmas Card art by Bettie Grace Miner and it is now finally available. To create your own fine art Christmas cards, you can choose designs from Bettie's hand manipulated Polaroid collection. You may customize your holiday greeting on the front and inside, plus you can choose to have your family name printed on the back of the card. Each card is hand printed and signed in gold by the artist. The hand made cards are 5"x7" and printed on fine heavyweight mat paper. They are packaged with envelopes either 6 to a box for $25.00 or 12 for $40.00, plus shipping and applicable sales tax. To Order: Please contact the artist with your custom order information via email or telephone. P.S. There will be some very fun news and offerings available in time for Christmas. Please watch for new and very special jazz & fine art gifts in the next Holiday newsletter ~ look for it just after Thanksgiving.
This is Sam! By now you know how much I love wildlife... On a recent trip to Punta Gorda, Florida, I was given the rare opportunity of photographing cougars, wolves and a great big tiger named Sam. It was love at first sight for me and Sam had me in his sights as well. Sam, a very playful but also extremely large cat, has a favorite game he likes to play when someone gets too close - he goes from napping (in his own private tub) to all four paws against the cage where you might be standing - in the blink of an eye - as this photo depicts! I swear he was laughing when he walked away after soaking this unsuspecting tiger fan. Felids & Friends is a wonderful charity, operated by Jim Cawthard, where he and his great big heart take in animals that have been abused or abandoned and would otherwise be destroyed. A new series of art prints will be released in the next few months, with proceeds benefiting Felids & Friends. As soon as they are available, I will be telling you about it. In the meantime, please check out this wondrous place and see if there might be a way that you can help feed the kitties!
