Community Training Connection, Inc. Newsletter October 2009
Rhonda Laughing Greetings,

There's still a few days to join Team Community Training at the Memory Walk for Alzheimer's research in Los Angeles on November 1st.  You should be well rested since that's when we turn the clocks back.  Our team is raring to go - and will use this week to catch up on our fund raising - we will blow away other teams!  Sign on, please.  Or consider a donation - either way - it's all good.  Thanks.

Legislative Updates
Bills signed by Governor

The biggest news is that AB 762 - the so-called "bedridden" bill was signed by the Governor.  The bill makes RCFE residents who may need assistance to transfer from bed, but can get around simply non-ambulatory.  This should ease some pain for many of you who have been struggling to get bedridden fire clearance for residents who should not be considered bedridden.

To get regular updates, please contact our office to subscribe to our regulatory update service.  For RCFEs, this will meet the health and safety code requirement.

Classes in your Area
TO, SFV, Carson - we're always close

Check our website for a variety of programs.  You can take 40 hours, or 8 hours, or even 4 hour programs.

We also have our 3rd Thursday classes - offering 3 hours that meet the administrator requirements for Title 22 as well as training requirements for Title 17.

What do you think?

We would love to hear from residential providers about the issues they face.  Check out my blog to hear some of my thoughts on the current state of residential care in CA.

I've also posted uniform closure days, new CCL fees, and a lot of other pertinent information.

Halloween Watermelon

From my friend, Frank Wachter at Wachter Residential......  I'd be happy to forward more of these food creations by people who obviously don't run residential care programs.

This will also let me know if Frank reads these email newsletters.

Hope it's a great Halloween - and hope to see many of you at the Memory Walk on November 1st.

Sincerely,
