Dear Friends,

June?  Already?  We're having a grand time creating new online classes, and meeting new students each month in our new locations.   The Wizards of Compliance have been busy with Regulations, Laws and Statutes, Oh My!

If you want a chuckle, in addition to the fun we'll add here, call our office and ask to be put on hold.

Do you know that we teach First Aid and CPR?  Do you know that we provide consulting on all residential issues?  Do you know that we have a record keeping system that comes with a guarantee against licensing citations for paperwork (as long as you use it)?

Please keep in touch over the summer.  Let us know how we can assist you to provide the best services to the people you support.

Bedridden Rules
Update Information

CCLD is expecting all licensees who care for permanently "bedridden" residents -- this includes residents who need help transferring in addition to residents who need help repositioning -- to submit revised LIC 200's and seek a "bedridden" fire clearance ASAP. No special "bedridden" exception from CCLD is required.

  • Fire clearances are required for permanently "bedridden" residents - meaning residents who are unable to transfer or unable to reposition.

  • Exceptions are not required, but the service plan must address the resident's care needs.

  • Physician needs to document the temporary  or short-term nature of those temporarily bedridden. Temporary status may extend beyond 60 days with approval from Regional Manager. Hospice clients are considered temporarily bedridden.

  • Call us if you need assistance with writing service plans.

AB 2607 Compliance

We have been hard at work creating a spectacular product for RCFEs to get you into compliance by 2008.  The DVD program is interactive, and includes lots of opportunities to test the learner's knowledge.

It was created in consultation with nurses and pharmacists who understand the work of residential care.

You can preorder your copy by contacting our office.

Who Can Ignore the Price of Gasoline?
Save Money on Gas - Take Classes Online

New people are signing on every day for classes in all administrative areas that are, like everything we do, INFORMATIVE, LIVELY and FUN.  You can take classes on:

  • Preventing Sexual Harassment
  • Communication
  • Spirituality
  • Business Ethics
  • Disaster Planning
  • Developmental Disabilities and Aging

We are working on getting you classes on:

  • Asperger's Syndrome
  • Diabetes
  • Diversity
  • Behavior
  • Conflict Management
With gas in our neighborhood at well over $3.35 per gallon, taking classes online is a bargain.  Have fun, earn CEUs, no need to dress up (or even get dressed if you don't want to).  What could be better?

We Are Everywhere!

We have expanded the number of locations where you can get recertification classes, as well as initial classes for Adult Residential Facility (ARF) and Residential Care for Elderly (RCFE).  Many of the classes will also qualify for Continuing Education Units for nurses, social workers and MFTs.

See us in Covina, Downey, Paramount, Santa Monica, Simi Valley, Irvine, Canoga Park, Pasadena and Los Angeles - and that's just over the summer.   More locations, more instructors, great topics!

We're already working on 2008 classes.  Let us know what topics you feel would be most helpful to you in your work.

We'll be at the CALA conference in San Jose this month.  Stop by our booth and say hello.

I hope to see you in class or online very soon.  Let us know how we can enhance your workplace.

Sincerely,
