With the Paris theme, our amazing models and a guest appearance by Sammy Hagar, the 15th annual Stepping Out To Celebrate Life gala was a fabulous evening of fun, fashion and fundraising. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event a huge success! As one guest said: "The word inspiring can't be used enough to describe last night! The joy and love of life was palpable in the room and very uplifting."

MEN GET BREAST CANCER TOO...

Just ask Gerry Bourguignon, who joined the 2010 Stepping Out model team to help make more people aware that men get breast cancer too. Although the percentage is less than 1%, nearly 2,000 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. "I feel so happy to have had the opportunity to remind the wonderful folks at our event that breast cancer can and does occur in men.  With both women and men, early detection is the key to successfully fighting this disease," says Gerry.

TENNIS CLASSIC A CELEBRATION WITH CELEBS

The October 2-3 Esurance Tennis Classic featuring Billie Jean King and Anna Kournikova was highly successful - both for watching great tennis and raising money for the Foundation. A significant portion of the event proceeds, and all money raised during the Saturday evening gala Fund A Need appeal, will go to our 2011 grants program. A huge thank you to the Kaliski family, their Harbor Point Charitable Foundation, and all who attended and assisted with the event.

PINK GLOVE DANCE COMES TO SAN FRANCISCO

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a fun way to celebrate is to take a few minutes and view the Pink Glove Dance: Breast Cancer Survivors. The popular YouTube video features breast cancer survivors from across the United States, including our own Bay Area group of dancers in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. The first Pink Glove Dance video was creasted by Medline Industries, Inc. Read more

Poetry backstage -
Every year at Stepping Out, emotions run high in the backstage dressing room before the show. This year model Heidi Woodhull added a touching moment as she shared a poem she wrote. Plus, the 2010 models did something never done before when they presented To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation with a generous check to help the Foundation  provide for others. Merci beaucoup, models!

kate spade - added nearly $1700 to the Foundation coffers with their Cocktails/Shop/Fundraise party on Sept. 16 - good things happen when you shop!

Marin Women's Study Report - Marin Health & Human Services newsletter announces the publication of the first manuscript on hormone use and breast cancer. Read the complete manuscript.
