BREAST CANCER IN THE NEWS Marin County, long known for its high rates of breast cancer, may no longer have that distinction. Read the latest article from the Pacific Sun Check out the San Francisco Chronicle article on one-time radiation effect in breast cancer. Will there be a change to a one-time hit of radiation in the future? According to a recent Associated Press article, the Foundation's 2010 focus on providing mammograms to underserved women in California is needed more than ever. "Cuts to a California program that provides mammograms to low-income and uninsured patients have affected more women than the state expected. Health officials had said the cuts enacted in January were intended to reduce the number of mammogram recipients by about 17 percent, to about 21,600 a month. The state reported this week that the program averaged less than 10,000 patients a month for the first three months of 2010." Read the full article Help us help others - donate online now!
