Greetings!

Welcome to the July 2008 edition of the Peerless Probrief! As always, our goal is to keep you aquainted with issues and products within the industry. This issue includes an invitation to the Peerless Webex seminar with Resistoflex, a lean manufacturing timeline, as well as other interesting and informative topics.

You're Invited...
Peerless Webex
Please join us with Resistoflex on Wednesday, August 20th for the Peerless WebEx Seminar! The focus will be on new products and applications for Teflon hose and expansion joints. This seminar is not a sales pitch, but a chance to get a closer look at these products. It's free to attend and you don't have to leave your computer! In addition, we will send a free Peerless hat to all those in attendance.

Breakthrough Moments in Lean
Lean Manufacturing
The Lean Enterprise Institute (LEI) presents Breakthrough Moments in Lean, an interactive lean manufacturing timeline. A click-through tour will take you back to the 1500's to show how past inventions created the manufacturing industry as we know it today.
Rising Cost of Production
Oil and Gas
The rising cost of petroleum has created a higher cost of production for most United States industries. Who does this higher cost fall on? In many cases the manufacturer absorbs these prices and as a result, must deal with declining profits. Can this be sustained with the current economic trend? Louis Uchitelle discusses some of the issues in Oil Prices Raise Cost of Making a Range of Goods.
Caterpillar Logistics
Caterpillar LogisticsWith over 75 years of experience, Caterpillar knows the influence of manufacturing logistics on the rest of the assembly line. Each element of the system has a direct impact on quality and costs and even to customer retention. In an article from their website, Caterpillar discusses ways to improve your "inbound supply chain."

Collaboration Barriers
CollaborationIn an era where technology is creating dominance in the workplace, a business must take all measures to keep up with the industry. Warren Sumner discusses the benefits of building a successful collaborative supply chain in the article, "Overcoming Barriers to Collaboration."
