Are you into sharks? Do you want to meet some new friends in Texas who are helping to protect sharks and conserve our oceans? David McGuire, executive director of Shark Stewards, award-winning shark conservationist and marine biologist is coming to Dallas to speak on 9/16 at the Museum of Nature and Science. Join David with Anna Clark, chair of Shark Stewards Texas, for a pre-party on Saturday, September 15th from 5-7pm at The People's Last Stand, a great bar with a local/sustainable menu.

Greetings!
Just because school is about to start doesn't mean you need to wrap up your diving season. We have several opportunities to keep diving well into winter. The "Advanced Open Water" course at Clear Springs Scuba Park is set for September 15-16. The visibility at Clear Springs is currently 7-10 feet which is practically 7 to 10 feet better than last year at this time. Dive West is also offering a "Stress and Rescue" course the week of October 15, so you still have time to complete the SSI's Master Diver Challenge in 2012. Brandi is leading the willing to defend our Trashfest Championship on October 6th. Join us; we still need a few of members to complete our team. I encourage everyone to get a few more dives in this year to keep your skills sharp!

Way to Go Greg Caffarel!
Congratulations to Greg Caffarel! Greg is Dive West's newest Dive Control Specialist! Greg was trained under the guidance of Brent Mitchell, one of Dive West's professional SSI Master Instructors.
Being a Dive Control Specialist, Greg assist with Dive West classes, is able to teach our Try Scuba and Scuba Skills Update classes. But his true goal is our Digital Underwater Photography Classes that will be offered up to 4 times a year. With his passion for photography and SSI's Digital Underwater Photography course students will be snapping up those PERFECT SHOTS in no time. Stop by Dive West to learn more.
