Men and HealthIn our December 2007 newsletter I
began a series entitled "Hormones and Health." As I stated in that article, hormone balance is
crucial for good health. Tending to one's hormonal health seems natural for us
women, but what about you men? I have a dear friend who is an acupuncturist. She tells me that most of her
clients are women. It seems that men might not find the tools and practices of self-care as accessible as many women do; there is generally more hesitation among men to engage in this area. However, at the Optimal Health Center, we have the
honor of working with many, many men as well as women. Colon cleansing, especially using enemas, seems to appeal to men as an effective tool to optimize their health. I strive to ensure that the Optimal Health Network's large community of male clients has a full set of tools to optimize health over the long term. Here is a list of the tools and practices that I feel are key to keeping men healthy:
- Routine Colon Cleansing - A weekly to monthly
enema series, using frankincense and myrrh soap followed by a sea salt and peppermint essential oil rinse to cleanse the colon, and then a coffee enema implant, is an excellent foundation to self-care.
- Regular Exercise - Vigor and vitality can be maintained throughout your life. If exercise is difficult for you, you may have hormonal issues that can be corrected using a Male Hormone Panel Saliva Test to identify the imbalance and a follow-up consultation to identify which herbs and supplements are needed to correct it.
- Good Sleep - If you struggle with sleep, use our Adrenal Stress Index Test and consultation to determine why and what to do about it.
- Relaxation - If you struggle to regularly find a place of deep relaxation within yourself, you many have adrenal fatigue. Use our Adrenal Stress Index Test and consultation to determine what to do about it.
- Social Networking
- Optimize Vitamin D Levels - Low vitamin D levels may increase the risk of heart disease, colon cancer, and prostate cancer.
- Optimize Ferritin Levels - Ferritin is a ubiquitous intracellular protein that stores iron and releases it in a controlled fashion. High ferritin levels can cause testicular atrophy and ferritin increases drastically in the presence of an infection or cancer.
- Complete Blood Count - A CBC is a standard medical test that is ordered by a medical doctor and gives information about cellular health. The staff at the Optimal Health Center can assist you to interpret your CBC in order to improve your cellular health.
- Cholesterol Levels (Lipid Panels) - Cholesterol is the precursor for all steroid hormones. If cholesterol is too low, naturally or due to cholesterol-lowering medications (much below 180), you may experience health troubles due to steroid hormone imbalances.
- Therapeutic Diet
- Iodine Patch or Iodine Loading Test - Optimal levels of iodine are needed for all of the endocrine glands to function, especially the thyroid, adrenals, and gonads.
- Balancing Male Steroid Hormones - Testosterone deficiency signs and symptoms (andropause) occur because of a variety of hormone imbalances and not just testosterone deficiency.
The steroid family of hormones includes the reproductive (male
and female) and stress-handling (adrenal) hormones. These hormones have a direct influence on energy, stamina,
vitality, cognition, and mood. Many are anabolic (body building) and anti-aging (disease preventative) in function.
Hormone imbalance can result in symptoms such as fatigue; irritability;
depression; weight gain; decreased motivation, productivity, and drive;
erectile dysfunction; decreased muscle tone, strength, and stamina; poor
concentration and memory; and increased risk for prostate and cardiovascular
problems.
Achieving male and overall steroid hormone
balance without hormone treatment is possible, and even preferred. This can be accomplished through a detailed examination of nutritional and herbal protocols,
diet, and other lifestyle changes that powerfully assist the body's ability to
produce optimal hormone levels.
I hope to inspire men, and the people who love them, to delve deeper to explore their potential for a higher level of well-being. The staff of the Optimal Health Center can assist you with each of these tools and practices. Just give us a call or e-mail. |
TestimonialDear Kristina and DeeDee, I have NEVER had an unpleasant experience or a single disappointment
with anything ordered from you. Let's face it, you deal in a product

TestimonialDeeDee, Thank you for the appointment today. Each time I come to Optimal Health, I leave
feeling much better about my health and having a positive energy about my life. For the past 40 years I have had a very busy working life. I have been a
maintenance electrician and my job was at least 72 hours a week.
Tobacco replaced many of my meals and gave me a false sense of energy... Read full testimonial |

TestimonialKristina, I finally was able to use the new tube with the retention bulb and syringe the other day. It works great and was easy to insert and to
inflate. I like the slower flow rate because it enabled
to take a larger volume without any discomfort at all. I highly
recommend the Enema Retention Inflatable Silicone Single Nozzle. I also liked that when the plunger was pushed in and the syringe was removed, it retained the inflation. Then just
placing the syringe back into the receiver, it allowed the air to escape
and the tube to be easily removed. Regards, Clyde
