From the Desk of Denise Delkamp: An Acne SolutionAbout a year ago, just before my son turned 14, he began breaking out with acne. It really bothered him and it was quite unsightly. He asked me if he could
use an acne product called Proactiv that he saw in a commercial on TV that was supposed to make his face clear in 2 weeks. I was a little reluctant to buy
the product, but I know what it is like to go through having acne, and I just wanted to help him. We received the products, he started using them, and it
seemed like for the first week that it was helping, a little. After the first week, there was no more improvement and his skin became dry and flaky. We tried
the Proactiv for 3 months, which I now find hard to believe. Once we faced the fact that it wasn't working, we went with another commercially successful acne
product, Murad. This actually made his acne WORSE! He had more acne and his entire face was red. We stopped using the Murad after the one-month supply we had
purchased ran out. At this point, I started looking more into my son's diet and supplements. He is an athlete and a pretty good eater, but we decided to remove all gluten and most sugar (other than fruit) from his diet. He ate limited amounts of dairy and increased his protein consumption. I also added supplements to his diet.
I put him on: Catalyn - A whole food multivitamin containing specific glandular tissue to complement the whole food ingredients to stimulate cell and tissue repair.
Vitamin A supports skin cell integrity. Vitamin C promotes healthy skin by supporting the natural growth and repair of skin tissues and cells, as well as
collagen production. Chase Tree - Maintains healthy skin in circumstances requiring a normal hormone balance (in men and women). DermaCo - Contains the following herbs: sarsaparilla, cleavers, Oregon grape, burdock, and yellow dock. This combination of herbs supports normal flushing of toxins from the body, encourages the healthy function of the organs of elimination, promotes normal healthy skin renewal and integrity, cleanses the blood, and promotes healthy liver and intestinal function. Zinc - Facilitates the production and regulation of about 200 hormones in your body, including testosterone. Imbalanced testosterone levels promote acne. Zinc optimizes overall hormonal balance. Zinc is also closely involved in protein synthesis and in collagen formation in your body, both of which are essential in the maintenance of healthy skin and in normalizing production of skin oils. If you have been to a dermatologist and have been advised to take tetracycline, you may find it interesting that zinc is as effective as this antibiotic for preventing acne. (All the above supplements are either the brand Standard Process or Mediherb, which the Optimal Health Center offers only through consultation.)Fish Oil - Using fish oil is a good way to reduce inflammation of your skin. Acne is a skin inflammation reaction to an excess of sebum in the skin and therefore any treatment that helps reduce inflammation will also assist in the reduction of acne. Additionally, fish oil helps to relieve acne because it is anti-bacterial. On our skin there is a bacteria that thrives on sebum, particularly in teenagers. As sebum production increases, this bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes), inhabits the follicles in our skin. This increases the body's inflammatory reaction by increasing white blood cells to the area, promoting even more acne. Within a week on this new protocol, my son's face began to clear up. Now, 3 months into it, he has very little acne. He still has some breakouts, and probably will while going through puberty, but it is very manageable for him. He feels so much better about the way he looks. My son now only uses organic, all-natural cleansers for his face. Please contact the Optimal Health Center if you or a family member need support with ridding your skin of acne. |
Testimonial: Outcome with Enema Prep was an Easy ColonoscopyKristina, When I was scheduled for my first colonoscopy,
Golytely was
prescribed, and when I told my physician I would be just fine with a
series of
enemas, she said no. Like Scott from Salt Lake City, I was told Golytely
or no
exam. I said nothing and did my fasting and series of
enemas. I was
squeaky clean after the third, but took two more to be sure. The
outcome was an easy colonoscopy, and when I advised my
physician, she
said I was as clean as any colon she had examined and that the reason for the objection to enemas is that most people don't know how to use them effectively.... Read full testimonial |
