Kristina Amelong's Ten Days to Optimal Health
Quote of the Month:
Special Note on Detoxification
"This OHC Plan has been carefully designed to support a healthy detoxification process without sending you into a state of illness. But it is also possible, given most people's diets and exposure to toxins, that a plan like this could trigger a health crisis. Even though you are eating food, this is a cleansing program. Because of this, and because we are all so toxic with yeast, PCBs, phenolics, heavy metals, and other toxins, it is very common to feel worse or even ill for the first 24 to 36 hours or even longer. In order to aid the liver in its enormous job of detoxifying your body, you may need to take coffee enemas as often as one to two times daily."

Our Bodies: Handle With Care
During the holidays, more than at any other time of year, we see more enduring weight gain, fatal heart attacks, and depression. On my home page you can currently find suggestions for some preventative health measures to counteract the abuse of holiday fun:
HOLIDAY HEALTH TIP: Holistic Alternative Health Tools
In this newsletter I will delve into detail about the last tip, taking a regular coffee enema, and how through taking coffee enemas regularly you can maintain your health during this busy season. I will discuss not only the procedures of the coffee enema but also some of the science behind how regular coffee enema use can decrease your chances of overall declining health.
The coffee enema, as promoted by the Optimal Health Center, is part of a colon cleanse protocol using the enema series. Let's explore the details of this entire enema series which ends with the coffee enema. First of all, the enema is not painful. Properly administered enemas don't cause pain because the water enters the colon slowly and because the nozzle is made of a soft plastic, silicone, or delrin, is well-lubricated, and is inserted at the proper rectal angle.
Enemas are safe and improve the colon's functionality. Enemas do not create a dependency because therapeutic enema solutions are used in conjunction with an overall healthy lifestyle. The first enema in the series is used to clear out the lower colon: the rectal, sigmoid, and ideally descending areas of the colon. The 2-3 quarts of enema solution used for this first colon cleanse treatment is usually prepared with a therapeutic soap such as Dr. Bronner's Lavender or a made-for-enema soap such as the Optimal Health Network's Goat Milk Enema Soaps and filtered water. The second enema in the series is used to clear out the rest of the descending colon, the transverse colon, and the ascending colon. The 2-4 quarts of enema solution used for this second colon cle anse treatment is usually peppermint essential oil, a high-quality sea salt, and filtered water. The third enema in the series is the coffee enema. The coffee is key to add to the enema during the holiday season because coffee increases the enzymatic action of the liver. For example, the coffee increases the production of the enzyme glutathione S-transferase, or GST, by 700 times, resulting in a powerful and effective quenching of free radicals. Free radicals can damage cells and are believed to accelerate the
progression of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and age-related diseases. The most abundant holiday foods -- refined sugar, white flour, margarine, rancid or hydrogenated
oils -- are thought to create significant amounts of free radicals and also deplete our metabolic antioxidant enzymes. The blood cleansing process of the coffee enema helps to counteract the assault of free radicals. To prepare the coffee enema, use a ratio of one half to one full quart of plain filtered water to one tablespoon to one cup of brewed enema coffee. Mix the water with the coffee solution. Take the coffee enema like you did the first two, but this time hold the solution for a full 12 to 15 minutes in order to allow the coffee to do its work of stimulating the liver and the gallbladder. Max Gerson, MD, who wrote A Cancer Therapy: Results of Fifty Cases and the Cure of Advanced Cancer, first popularized the coffee enema. In his book, he documents how the coffee enema and other lifestyle changes cured 50 cases of cancer. Dr. Gerson used numerous coffee enemas with his clients each day. For some, daily coffee enemas can make all the difference in the world. In the context of the holidays, experiment with taking a coffee enema once a day to once a week. How
much coffee one benefits from and how often one benefits from the coffee enema is largely determined by your oxidation
rate (the rate at which you burn your food). For instance, if
you are a fast oxidizer, you are likely to need less coffee in your enemas less often. To learn
your oxidization rate, have a hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA). Another guide for how often and how much coffee is how you feel after your coffee enema treatment. If you feel great afterwards, then the way in which you are doing coffee enemas is right for you. If you don't feel great after the coffee enema treatment, seriously consider the HTMA. If you feel "buzzed" after the coffee enema, you are using too much coffee. Much has been written about the science behind the coffee enema. I have written about it extensively in my book, Kristina Amelong's Ten Days to Optimal Health. You can also find some of the science behind the coffee enema in my DVD video, Cleansing, Coffee Enemas and Colon Tubes, and on my website, www.enemabag.com.
This discussion of using the enema to assist our bodies through the holidays allows me to refocus on and communicate yet again the guiding principle of my work: that the body can heal from anything! The fact that much of our society still believes that our health is determined by our DNA and that we don't have much control over it is scientifically now fully challenged. You CAN heal! Yes, YOU! And you can maintain good health despite continual challenges.
As Bruce Lipton states in The Biology of Belief, "I had come to question biology's Central Dogma, the premise that genes control life. That scientific premise has one major flaw: genes cannot turn themselves on or off... Something in the environment has to trigger gene activity." I write in my book: "In 1949, Linus Pauling, the founding father of molecular biology... made public his theory that the origin of disease is based on specific changes in genetic materials due to environmental influences, which in turn modify physiological function. In other words, Pauling's theory states that disease is not solely caused by genetics, but rather due to the interaction between an individual's genes and his/her surroundings." To clarify, it looks as if we each have a genetic flexibility. We each can influence our genes to express with health and longevity, or with illness and degenerative disease, depending on which environmental conditions we choose and/or are exposed to such as poor eating habits, frequent stress, a lack of proper sleep, painful life experiences, and so on. Unfortunately, too many of us still ascribe our arthritis, high blood pressure, asthma, signs of aging, and mood to inescapable destiny.
What does all of this have to do with the coffee enema? Very good question! Science has shown that certain elements in coffee called diterpenoids, namely cafestol palmitate and a mix of cafestol and kahweol,
help slow the modification of genes that when expressed can cause
cancer. Additionally, and possibly even more importantly, these components in coffee are potentially protective towards carcinogens contained in the human diet.
Yes, these studies speak of coffee drunk and not the coffee enema. However, there is currently a study underway sponsored by the National Cancer Institute using coffee enemas called the Gonzalez Regimen (PDQ®), which is an alternative therapy that is being studied as a treatment for
pancreatic cancer and includes the coffee enema.
Before you start drinking coffee or more coffee, know that when you drink coffee you can harm your adrenal gland and dysregulate your hypothalamus and pituitary axis. However, when you take coffee enemas you are generally using very small amounts of a therapeutic coffee blend.

Enema Equipment Care Tip:Cleaning and drying your enema bag after an enema series is necessary because mold can accumulate inside a bag that's not dried properly. Using moldy enema equipment can cause serious illness. Make sure that when you are finished using your enema bag, you wash it with soap, rinse it in grapefruit seed extract, dry it with a towel, and then also hang it upside-down to dry thoroughly. Some bags will tend to stick together once wet; always make sure that the sides of your enema bag do not stick together so that they dry out completely after use. In our Enema Equipment Buying Guide you will find additional enema equipment tips. |
