This week at the Crossing...                                                     July 11, 2010

pastor KendalDear Crossing family and friends,

What would you do if someone gave you a million dollars? Wouldn't take very long to generate a list, would it? Matter of fact, I could think of some pretty cool ways to spend several million if I had to :)

Now--add just a few words to the above sentence: What would you do if someone gave you a million dollars to invest on their behalf? Changes everything, doesn't it? If it's mine I spend it one way; if it's someone else's I have a completely different mind set.

This Sunday's story is about the fact that, as far as our gifts, resources, finances, time, energy and talents go, it's more the second statement than the first. Everything we have has been given to us to invest on someone else's behalf--God's.

Come this Sunday for a deep drink at the Parable of the Talents. Be ready as guest speaker Tom Archambault helps us wrestle with one of Jesus' most important stories and leads us in re-thinking how we're using our 'million.'

See you then!

Mission team in Haiti this week!!

Haitian house

Through this team, the Crossing is working with the poorest of the poor to
teach English, distribute food, host a community dinner, train church leaders
and clear debris in preparation to rebuild several homes
(we've sent a container filled with construction material!)

Please take a moment to pray for them right now:

"Welcome" Tiffany!

Tiffany Archambault, who for the past couple years has
been our KidsCrossing coordinator, is transitioning to
  become Kendal's part-time assistant.

Tiffany has been a great leader in KidsCrossing,
consistently demonstrating positive, can-do attitude and a
passion to help the Crossing flourish. We're excited to have you on board in a new way, Tiff!!
By the way, Tiffany's on the right...
Thanks so much...

We were overwhelmed and completely surprised by the 25th anniversary bash you threw us a couple weeks ago! Thanks for the encouragement and support--we love you and we love what God is doing through us together :)

'What If' Update...

As of this week, we're up to $65,000--well on our way to the $100,000 down payment and the next step in God's future for us!

Thanks for your continued generosity and for following God's invitation to trust him. I love our church and I love what God is doing through us together! If you haven't had a chance to participate, there's still time to make your 'What If' commitment. Just indicate on a Connection Card or offering envelope.

If you still haven't checked out 'the land,' click on the map at the bottom of this e-newsletter and go take a walk...

Our 'Winn-Dixie' outreach...

Our food outreach to the homeless is up and running! The Crossing is partnering with the New Beginnings homeless shelter and three other local churches to make this happen. Pretty cool!

What we need to make this a continues success: non-perishable food items. Bring to the info table on Sunday or contact Diana Beighley (email below) for pickup during the week. Thanks!

Like to join the team?! Email Diana Beighley at dbeighley@nat.com

Food for thought: 18 people listed food as an urgent need, 7 listed clothing, 3 listed shelter, 3 listed financial/employment, and 2 listed medical needs as urgent.
