LOW-INCOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE

Three energy assistance programs are available for low-income PUD customers:

  • The Neighbor's GLOW Fund provides emergency assistance to customers who are behind in their payments and facing disconnection of electric service.
  • The Special Waiver Program waives the $8 monthly customer charge for low-income households.
  • The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally-funded program that helps low-income customers with home heating costs.

Visit our website to learn more about these programs.

The Neighbor's GLOW Fund
Would you like a chance to help someone who is struggling to pay their electric bill?  The Neighbor's GLOW Fund provides a helping hand to low-income PUD customers who are facing disconnection of their electric service for nonpayment.  Learn more about GLOW.

GENERLINK - USE STANDBY GENERATORS SAFELY

Woman plugging in GenerLinkStandby Generators are helpful during outages, but if connected improperly they can send electricity onto the power lines, seriously injuring or killing our linemen who are working to restore power.

A GenerLink Transfer Switch keeps your generator from energizing the power lines and makes using a generator more convenient.

RECYCLE YOUR OLD FRIDGE & SAVE
Photo of old refrigeratorDid you know that many older fridges and freezers use up to four times the energy of newer models?

If you keep a second fridge or freezer running at your home, it could be costing you up to $150 a year on your PUD bill. By recycling it, you can save all that money, and earn a $30 rebate!

HELP US KEEP ELECTRIC RATES AFFORDABLE:
REDUCE YOUR ENERGY USE DURING PEAK TIMES
Beginning October 1, the Bonneville Power Administration's billing structure for the wholesale power that it sells to the PUD will reflect higher costs during peak usage periods. Peak usage periods are times when demand for electricity is at its greatest. As a PUD customer, you can play a role in reducing wholesale power costs by reducing your electric usage during peak periods and shifting energy use to non-peak periods.

Peak Use Hours - MorningPeak Use Hours - Evening
Reduce your electricity use during these times to help keep rates affordable.

Peak usage periods during the winter months typically occur on Monday mornings as businesses start up operations and people prepare to go to work. Unusually cold spells will also create high system demands. During these periods, please be mindful of when and how you use energy. By making a few simple changes, you can help us keep rates affordable.

Consider these changes in your lifestyle: Use the delay cycle on your dishwasher so that it runs overnight or after you leave for work. Do your laundry during the middle of the day or on weekends. Improving the efficiency of your home will also help with peak usage and keep your electric bill lower. For more tips, visit www.crpud.net.
