PLEASE CALL US IF YOU PLAN TO ADD ELECTRIC LOAD

PUD lineman repairing power line
Our linemen frequently work close to transformers, which can overheat and explode if overloaded. Please help us keep them safe by letting us know before you add electric load.

Are you planning to add a shop, a lighted greenhouse, a heat pump or other electrical equipment to your home or business? Please call us first.

Adding load without notifying us first can affect the reliability and safety of our distribution system. When you add electrical load to an existing service, you risk overloading our distribution equipment. This can damage our equipment and cause outages and power quality problems for you and your neighbors. It can also create an unsafe situation for our workers.

Please call our Engineering Department at (503) 397-0760 or email engineering@crpud.org if you are planning to increase your electric load. We'll complete a load calculation to ensure that the equipment that serves you is sized properly for whatever you have planned.

If you fail to notify us before adding load and our equipment is damaged as a result, you may be liable for the damages.
