DUCTLESS HEAT PUMPS: HEAT & COOL FOR LESS
Photo of ductless heat pumpA ductless heat pump provides low-cost, year-round comfort.
Ductless heat pump systems  provide energy-efficient, quiet and comfortable heat in the winter, and summer air conditioning.
Starting at around $3,500, ductless heat pumps offer an excellent way to upgrade your existing electric baseboards or wall heaters without the expense of a ducted system.  For homes with an open floorplan, a ductless heat pump with one interior unit can heat and cool the common areas, leaving existing baseboards/wall heaters in bedrooms and bathrooms.
We offer $1,500 rebates for qualifying systems, and the state of Oregon offers a $400 tax credit.  Expanded federal tax credits of up to $1,500 are available through December 2010.

DRY WINTER MAY IMPACT FUTURE POWER COSTS
Photo of Bonneville DamHydropower helps keep rates lower for PUD customers.
An unusually dry winter and low snowpack in the Cascades will cause abnormally low river flows in the Columbia Basin this year, potentially increasing wholesale power costs for the PUD beginning in the year 2012.
About 80% of the electricity used by PUD customers is generated at hydroelectric dams.  Hydroelectric generation is clean, renewable and less expensive than other generation resources.  Dry years reduce hydroelectric output, which affects our power costs.
