MercedesHeritage.com Newsletter
 March 2011

Greetings!

What have we been doing during California's torrential rains? Buying cars. Oldtimers purchased include a barn find Gullwing, three 190SLs, half a dozen Pagodas and a few 111 convertibles. Youngtimers weren't neglected and we found two superb 560SLs and a museum quality '84 300D-T.

Inspecting cars in filthy, dark garages prevented me from attending the season's first great concours - Amelia Island. Thanks to our contributors we can all tour the glorious Mercedes-Benz that were displayed.

Do you remember the brilliant orange Wankel engine C111s? Arturo Alonso does and has decided to build his own. We report on his ambitious V12 Ciento Once project.

We begin our Learning Series with an in depth look at the eternally elegant 111 coupe/cabriolet range. For those of us attracted to these eminently usable two doors, this is a must read.

I've neglected to mention our massive new Video Collection. This month's sample allows you to sit next to Bruno Spengler for a ride in an SLR Speedster. There are over 100 more videos to enjoy.

Please enjoy this month's newsletter.

Featured Listing: single owner 32k mile 450SE

The introduction of the 116 series sedans raised the "S" class to new heights of safety and refinement. An early short wheelbase small bumper example, this Icon Gold '73 has had but one family owner and shows only 32k miles from new. Roomy, reasonably quick and agile on the road, this 1973 model is ready to tour.
