May  2010
Greetings!

The concours and classic car tour/event season has well and truly begun. We begin our event coverage in Europe this month with an educational look at the Mercedes-Benz on display at Germany's Techo Classica Essen show.

An interesting counterpoint to the classics at Essen, the new Brabus Vanish is a different breed of Mercedes altogether - massive power and brutal good looks. It seems we'll have to fly to Dubai to see one.

Stepping firmly into 2011 and beyond, we cover two exciting new engines and developments with the new 2013 SL range.

We close this month with a look back at the opulent 300/b/c/d range that re-established Mercedes-Benz in the post-war luxury sedan segment.

Please enjoy our 60th newsletter.

Essen Motor Show 2010: Classic Mercedes-Benz on display
The Techno Classica Essen in Germany brings Europe's finest classic car dealers together to display their wares. Mercedes-Benz was well represented both with a spectacular Classic Center exhibit and some glorious cars on display from vendors.

When 661hp is not enough: The Brabus SL65 T65 RS
Brabus is back in the news with a brawnier version of the already well muscled SL65 Black Edition. Terminal overkill? Yes, but well...that's Brabus. The German tuner really doesn't seem much interested in anything that won't touch 200mph. Their new T65 RS touches 205mph.
2010 SLs under test and two exciting new Engines
What's going on with the 2013 SL? We have a few new developments. And when will Mercedes build a more efficient V-8? Straight away it seems and a new 300+ hp V-6 as well.

Looking Back: The "Adenauers"
Mercedes-Benz was certainly one of the pre-eminent pre-war large luxury car manufacturers. Let's have a look at the car that once again established them as a leader in the post-war premium luxury segment.
