Greetings!

The great trees leafing into their springtime brilliance in the Northern Hemisphere are visible evidence of the aliveness of every being on the planet. We can feel the tree roots drawing in nutrients and their sap running quickly, feeding their beauty. We listen with delight as Pacific Chorus Frogs express their hormones with loud singing at the full moon. We watch light and shadow play in the sky as rain clouds go scudding along: gathering, watering, and disappearing.

These simple, natural, rhythmic patterns of nature can fill us with joy and energize us once more to spread our own light and take one more action to save the earth! Remember to listen to a tree and feel the breeze on your face today!

Global Shifts of Intention

"We have forgotten the virtue of sitting, watching, observing. Nothing much happens. This is the way of nature. We breathe together. Simply this. For long periods of time, the meadow is still. We watch. We wait. We wonder. Our eyes find a resting place. And then, the slightest breeze moves the grass. It can be heard as a whispered prayer."  -- Terry Tempest Williams

"...for original peoples, reality is cyclic or spiraling. It doesn't plow a steady trough, nor does it truly begin or end. Each part of reality, time included, is dynamic and relational. Mayan calendars are likewise inextricable from human consciousness. This end period of the Mayan Calendar resounds with myriad prophecies and is said to correspond with the arrival of the sun at the center of our Milky Way Galaxy. This and other factors drive many to conclude that the true apocalypse is the destruction of constricting ways of being. The change that can birth from these times, they surmise, is the recognition of our true form as light."  -- Llyn Roberts

"I was told that it is always our choice to absorb light from this matrix and radiate light into this matrix. Or we have the choice to get caught up in a denser frequency of the pain and suffering. It is when we choose to see beyond the pain and to experience this perfect matrix that we too can join in with the earth in experiencing a higher frequency of light. And thus our life and all life is changed. I was told we must make a clear choice."  -- Sandra Ingerman

Things They Are A Changin'

Shared perceptual changes in the last ten years are flowering into amazing global shifts right now. On the material plane, we not only know about events around the world, we know we can affect them. We hear about protests and worldwide meditations, intention and gratitude projects, and can have all kinds of discourse through the web and wireless communications. We can watch a video of original peoples in the Amazon practically as easily as we can watch a ball game. We have access to worldviews and beliefs we only dreamed of when we were young.

On the spiritual plane, we are learning to connect with each other in this dimension and others, outside space and time. Many people, both ordinary and famous, are "doing the same work, saying the same thing, just using different angles to get there" as a friend described it.

As we shift our awareness, the energies and vibrations--the fields of consciousness that we tap into--are more present, perceived more easily, and last longer. The helping beings who show up are more numerous. As this happens, there's an exponential shift in our personal ability to sustain our focus and intention.

A recent example for me occurred during a conference and ceremonies at Lake Biwa in Japan on the 2010 Spring Equinox. Masaro Emoto--whom most of you know for his photographs of how water crystals respond to words, vibrations, and thoughts--sponsored this event, and joined with Lynne McTaggart for an intention experiment. I decided to meditate and join in without doing the online/sign-in part.

I go into stillness, transfigure, and go to Lake Biwa. Greeting the spirits of the Lake, and the many light beings there, I radiate love and light along with the others. Suddenly the individual blobs of light expand into a huge ball, radiating in every direction. I bask in and add to this light. Every time I lose focus and space out, then return, the light is still there. Eventually I have to stop. The next day, and the days after, I am able to reconnect with this ball of light (the intention of many beings to harmonize) instantly.

I have been doing this sort of long-distance, outside of space/time intentional healing work for over ten years. Never have I seen/experienced such a huge conglomeration of light, or one that remained so long after the ceremony. I think this means that the intentional psychic skills of many humans are transmuting into stronger and more focused tools. I think this means that there is a deep flowering of the psychic connections that are possible for us in the parallel dimensions.

Creating An Invisible World of Substance

Sandra Ingerman describes this kind of work as creating "invisible worlds of substance." What does this mean?

Most of us are familiar with the Biblical story of loaves and fishes, where Jesus manifested plenty from both substance (a little fish and bread) and the unmanifest (his intention, his spiritual energy). Reiki, shamanic healing, and other kinds of energy healing are current examples of using the invisible (light, energy) to help shift our physical experience of the world. Yet there is more.

Creating an invisible world of substance has to do with visualizing, or having a somatic or intuitive experience of soul and spirit. The "substance" is made manifest through light and vibration. The "invisible" part can be accessed through whatever perceptual lenses we have, gifts like clairvoyance (psychic seeing), clairaudience (psychic hearing), clairsentience (empathic feeling) and claircognizance (psychic knowing). It's my belief that most of us have these gifts (certainly our ancestors did!) We simply have to look for them, develop them, and deal with the non-belief that arises!

A simple example of creating an invisible world of substance is something many of us do: sending love and light to a distant loved one for support. Or, when there is trauma, such as in Haiti and Chile, we may send prayers and do healing work as well as supporting physical rehabilitation. Or we may join in a ceremony for transmuting toxins, as at Lake Biwa.

I've written before about the Andean practice of "sending" light between villages, a practice that opened many doors of possibility for me. Yet there has to be a connection between the idea of something and the experience! Some years ago I was sitting on a boulder at the top of the Coast range. My teacher Americo Yabar had instructed us to go meditate. As my mind slowed, I began to be aware of everyone meditating at that same moment around the world. I saw the filaments of connection, and felt the shared peace as if it were tangible. This experience enabled me to visualize this web of meditators, and connect into it from then on, and spurred me to explore more.

The two meditation/visualizations I refer to frequently, the Earth-Cosmos Meditation and the Elements Meditation,  emerged from my explorations, and have been incredibly useful as tools for exploring and creating invisible worlds of substance.

Perception & Belief

When I use the term "shifting consciousness" I am referring to expanding our ways and experiences of knowing. In the western world, we "know" that a tree sends sap up and down inside its bark, probably because we believed our biology teacher! Running sap is a physical activity, but we can't see it, or even hear it unless we have a super-sensitive microphone. Some of us can "feel" the sap energetically; some of us receive advice from trees in the form of words or metaphor; some of us experience spirit or essence specific to individual trees. Still, it's a belief thing, a perceptual framework that allows us to take in information (or not).

We can talk about four levels of engagement, or ways of perceiving, in the world: the literal, physical, chemical, DNA level; the mental, psychosomatic level (words); the soul, mythic, metaphorical level; and the spirit, energetic, essence level. In all of these levels, our perception determines what we see.

For example, in the Western view, soul and spirit are generally considered "invisible," although we say things like "I feel your love," or "we had a strong connection." In non-western, indigenous traditions, in contrast, seeing a soul leave a body or communicating with the spirit of salmon is totally normal.

The more we allow ourselves to rest in the connection of all living beings, the easier it is to bring somatic, soul, and spiritual experiences into everything we do. Weaving the mystical and the physical together we can significantly empower both our actions and our connections.

Our Work Is Cut Out for Us

Events and conditions in the world are calling us to step up: To attend to inequities and move into sustainability. To change resource use and attitudes of privilege. To address the many physical changes on the earth. To build invisible worlds of substance. To travel to the stars and get help. To weave our energies with all other living beings.

It does not have to be hard or time consuming. Intention is key. What stands in the way is our belief systems ("Me, a light worker? Me, able to create invisible worlds?") What stands in the way is focus rather than ability. An old friend spoke recently of her discovery that she wasn't afraid of the shadow, she was afraid of her own light. This captures the issue!

Yet it does take conscious awareness. Just recently I realized I'd been worrying about an old oak losing its bark, but I hadn't been focusing light/love/good energy on this tree: I wasn't following my own advice! I need to do my research, and take care of the tree on the physical; and I can take care of it on the spiritual level as well! This is a metaphor for our approach to larger issues of change, such as the environment: both support on physical (learning permaculture or supporting the Center for Biological Diversity or Greenpeace, for example) and the spiritual level (making offerings, doing ceremony, transmuting toxins, and creating invisible worlds of substance, for example).

When we open our minds to the infinite universe; when we open our bodies to the delicious sense of interconnection with all living beings; when we open our spirits to the divine light that fills us...imagine:

You are at a high glacial lake, surrounded on one side by nearly vertical dark basaltic scree, on the other by rocky, grassy hillocks. This actual, physical place, the Rainbow Lagoon, is an ancient sacred lake where the keeper maintains a relationship with rainbow energy and stars. In the invisible world of substance that overlays this lake, columns of light rise from the lake into the cosmos. In one dimension these columns are white light; in another they are rainbow light. When you put your hands into the rainbow columns, rainbow light radiates down your arms and out your fingers. You can feel it.

Where are you going to put your hands? How are you going to use this rainbow light?

Transfiguring Into Your Essence
You can learn to go inside and create invisible worlds of substance with Medicine for the Earth teachers on three continents!.

"Medicine for the Earth work gives me a grounded sense of connection with the Divine. It brings my heart, mind and spirit back to what is truly important. I feel akin to this work, as it gives me a great sense of inner joy and a serenity in a way that nothing else does. I gain a tremendous sense of clarity-mentally, emotionally and even physically. Doing the work makes me feel that I am honoring and cherishing beautiful Mother Earth as she deserves. In my tiny way, I feel I am helping to make the world a better place. MFTE work is also an intense education for me. I learn from my Spirit Guides and Ancestors in unimaginable ways. I also learn from my fellow Circle members, and from their journeys. An undercurrent of joy is felt throughout. MFTE gives me a celebratory sense of being in community. Honestly I believe it makes me a better person and enhances my inner sense of harmony and peace. Then I interact with people and the world in a more Lighted way."  --M. P.

Make The Pledge To Save America's Mountains
The breathtaking Appalachian Mountains stretch from central Alabama all the way up to Canada, separating the eastern seaboard from the Midwest. More than 300 million years old, this ancient band of mountains is one of the most biodiverse regions in North America. Yet these mountains are being razed with mountaintop removal coal mining (MTR), leaving a flat wasteland with no wildlife, poisoned water supplies and cancer-ridden communities. Make the pledge to end these practices!

Exploring Bay Mountains
Deepen your relationship with your local bioregion and the mountains that surround the Bay! Ginny Anderson, ecopsychologist and author of Circling the Bay: A Pilgrimage to Wild and Sacred Places offers a number of wonderful explorations this spring. Robin White Turtle Lysne, author, medium, and psychic, also offers walks.

Cool Animal Ring Tones
The Center for Biological Diversity offers free endangered species ring tones with the mesmerizing calls of the jaguar, beluga whale, Mexican spotted owl, and 30 other endangered wildlife species and almost 100 croaks, chirps, and songs spanning the globe, in English and in Spanish
